Raising a Paypal dispute against DealExtreme - what to do?

I bought an external harddrive / PMP enclosure 44 days ago, it arrived about a month ago, and it doesn't work properly, and tends to crash rather often. I;m not best pleased with it, especially as it was a christmas present that I'm now fostering until a fix can be found for it.

I want to raise a paypal dispute for it, but I'm not sure what to do. Should I report it as not received, or as received but faulty? Not received would mean I wouldn't have to mess around waiting for weeks or months for the notoriously apathetic DE cust service, but then, they did send it signed-for, so they have proof of delivery.

What should I do?

have you contacted dx, i have never had a problem with them when a return has been needed, they answer within 48 hrs

You'd have to send it back for a refund. Paypal will tell you to return it as well.

In my experience with paypal disputes it is easier to say it has not arrived if the item was posted NOT needing a signature. If you want to raise a SNAD dispute you will jhave to take the item to a professional to look at it and they have to give a written appraisal that it is faulty on their headed paper then you have to fax that to paypal. In the past with a dispute with paypal they have said to me they never received my fax even though i had confirmation and i had to re-send costing more money.
Open an item not received dispute- it's easier, less hassle and less time consuming, good luck.

I would just raise a ticket at dx, they will ask you to return it, which as already said paypal will ask you to do anyway

Best bet as others have said is go direct with DE. Paypal only cover item not received on off ebay payments, I believe and even then you are not guaranteed, it's on a best effort basis.


That is not true (if I am reading it right) you can claim for 'item not recieved' off none eBay paypal transactions. I have done quite a few and received all the money back.
