Does anyone know if i can use the pc2-6400 1gb ram from my samsung nc-10 in the acer netbook. When i go on crucial website they state i need a pc2-5300 but was wondering if the pc2-6400 would still work. Thanks.

frm my experience swapping my own RAM chips, it wont work, usually the 2 chips would be different.i use the site mrmemory to find the correct chips.
^^ thanks for the reply
In my experience this will work if the ram modules are the same type eg DDR2. Different types have the cut out in the edge connector in different places to prevent plugging the wrong modules into the slot. The 6400 and 5300 numbers indicate the access speed of the DRAM. The faster module should work in place of the slower module but not vice versa.

If it is a physical fit (size and slot position) why don't you just try it. You won't cause any damage. The worst thing that can happen is the system fails due to memory corruption errors. If this is the case just put the old ram back in.

Of course it will work, worse case scenario the ram will be underclocked. The tricky bit will be actually installing it you have to literally dismantle the acer aspire to change the ram.
^^^ thanks for the replies yes danmc your right i tried it and managed to break a couple of the keyboard clips so i abandoned the install lol!
