Thank you all for the kind words, they are going to be really hard his year!!!! nearly 16 hour fasts!!!!!!!! my god im going to lose alot of muscle....its a big shame as ive been training really hard lately even been hitting the protein shakes and have been making good progress cut to a nice lean 72kg.

Last year I managed to get to the gym 3 times a week during Ramadan and that was really hard this year is going to be a killer.

do you mind me asking, can you not eat anything during those hours?

can you drink what you like?
#9
Nope you cant eat anything from well the first one starts at 4.41am here in Birmingham after that time you cannot eat or drink anything or smoke or perv at women lol till 8pm after that you can eat again ect then you pray and then the following early morning i think the fast starts again at 4.43am and thus the cycle continues for a whole month.

Its damn hard....I feel tired grumpy and hungry as hell for the first week after that you sort of get used to it lol....its all about having the mental barrier there it takes alot out of you but it shows you what people have to go through in third world countries where they dont get to eat anything for hours upon end where they are lucky to get a sip of water in unbearable heat but yet we can all do that after 16 hours but they cant.

Theres alot of praying involved and thanking the big guy upstairs for giving us what he has and at the end of the 30 month period it means we get to celebrate in a festival called eid ul fitr we get to party or should I say PAAAAAR....TAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! :p

Hello, i find things like this fasinating merely because its strange to me, sorry if i sound dumb but does everyone have to do this or are there exceptions etc like me at the moment being pregnant

I assume this is a thing that muslims do as a couple of my mates mentioned summit about it but they dont do it but their parents think they do (naughty i know) and they are muslim

Thanks Emma x
#14
Yeh if your pregnant depending how far into the pregnancy you can avoid but you have to give an amount of money to the poor. Same with the elderly

Yep there are exceptions such as the elderly, sick and in case being pregnant!! Anyone who is fit enough really!! Young children have excpetions as they are young, but some say want to keep it but this year its hard as wake up for 4am and have something to eat and cannot break the fast till around 8pm and prayers are offrered around 9pm which go through to midnight(ish)!!
#16
I hardly woke up last year so i went throughout the whole day without food. But you have to make intentions the night before you cant just decide on the day. If you understand what am sayin.

Thats it, it just shows the everyday thigs we take for granted, no food or drink and we complain and we only do it for a month!! Alot of people get shocked when they ask at work and they even say "No water?", just comes down to how strong and committed you are!!

Thanks will do, probably hit the gym!!

People including me talk of getting sugar lows when they have not eaten or drunk for a while. Surely large numbers of people must experience similar.
@Naeem786 Isn't it a bit dangerous to be taking strenuous exercise if you are not eating anything?
But I understand where you are coming from in that it helps to focus the mind.
I guess I would probably be one of those who contributes more in other ways if I was a moslem as I really don't think I could keep it up for the entire period.
#34
Here at last. Let the contest begin, bye for now
