Hello All

They say things like

"Hello can we spear to Mr X X please"
"Who calling"

then somtimes they hang up OR

they said its "BLA BLA BLA"

and when I go speaking they ask somtimes like
"whats your D.O.B so we can confirm its you"

and i never give my deatils, im so worried, they may have some info on me as they been phoninh 3.4 times a day and they just called now on top of it, they have my mobile number as well as my home!!

youd be surprised how people get hold of details

the 0870 on a google number says it is halifax

banks tho will generally ask you two security questions and technically should ask you for say the year and month or day and year etc of dob not whole thing altho some might ?

if your concerned bout who they really are then just tell them you will call back on the regular bank number to discuss what the issue is that way if they are genuine they will have no problem

OK the 0870 one just called now, the 0845 has been calling past the last few days.

I am so concerned what information they have of me as I dont want to be part of no ID fraud or any **** like that. I mean all my infomation is shreded cross so both ways, and i hardly sign up to newsletter etc etc!! im so hacked of right now, im thinking to myself it could be the bank as they cane be botherd shreading out deatils :(

This also used for bank of scotland, I understand it's a commapy called Jeffery Parker Bourne which is a collection company.

The number that BT have for this is 01422 357677 and shows upon Caller ID is 08708503492.

Sounds very much like a collections agency working on behalf on HBOS/Halifax - which suggests you might have credit/debts with one of those companies and they are trying to find out if you are about...

Top Hit says 0845 is Bains and Ernest - both loan companies.

Did you apply for a loan and were declined recently? Even if you didn't I wouldn't worry about it too much, they are both reputable companies with probably little more than your name, address and phone number.

The TPS will take *at least* 6 weeks to kick in, just tell them you moved in last week and its a wrong number.

Expect at least another 4 companies to call you mind, just pick the phone up to them rather than ignoring them as that will NEVER stop the calls.

Gosh! The first time I have given something back to HUKD

seems others have had this problem in the past- looks to be something to do with the Halifax.
You are right to not give out any details, and the above post about the telephone preference service is right too but they do take at least 28 days to remove your number form the database so you still get them in the meantime.

oops- seems others beat me to it- sorry to replicate!

You say in your original post that they say things like "Hello can we spear to Mr X X please"
Is Mr X X you.
Have they got the right person?
I don't think anything sinister is going on here.
It sounds like there are some financial problems that need sorting out, so I would speak to these people to see what they want. It might not be as bad as you think. :-D

grex9101, this guy is obviously worried and is asking for help. I don't think pointing out things like this helps in this case.

just a spot of light relief, no offence intended.
