Weirdly I was talking about this the other night. My dad told me ages ago he used to have it instead of cream when he was a kid and I was lol'ing about it

Old peeps are odd

How about bin it? its nasty stuff....

OR donate it to one of those charities that take food donations to foreign countries (probs best option)

my missus refers to this as "carnation cream" its not cream its evaporated milk..... although carnation now do make cream, and more recently rice pudding.....

she's has it on any form of cake.....

speaking of cake, I saw the best cake in morrisons over the weekend, it was a giant french fancy as a full size cake...... wicked! (90's word)

No, don't think so, simmering then, not boiling . . . . . google it, i'm at work but i'm sure it makes a toffee sauce (crumble some digestives and mix with butter, chopped bananas and this toffee sauce + some chopped nuts on top = lazy banoffee pie :) )

yeah...5 years older than me...so WTF u got this filth in your cupboard for??

it was either fresh cream or Elmlea when I was a kid

or Squirty cream but tbh it should just be given its own food group cause its immense

Morrison's also have some very yummy fresh cream muffins which I can recommend.

Evaporated milk - into the fridge cos it has to be cold - then just have it with cold tinned fruit like pineapple.

edit: There isn't some confusion with condensed milk going on here is there?

Back in the day we used to have our milk delivered by horse and cart and, obviously, milkman.

Yes but not to be confused with this:

Condensed milk is the war-time fudge-making relic stuff. ( Although clearly you could use evaporated especially for a fudge sauce but why would you?)

EXACTLY my thoughts :p

Make custard. Mix the tin of milk with 1 and a half tins of water. (use the empty tin to measure)
It will be like the custard from school, circa 1950-1960, or use it for rice pudding.

Thought you HAD to use condensed milk for this not evaporated. Does evaporated work?

well, you may just happen to have a tin in your cupboard which you had no other use for:w00t:

Last way to use it!!
