The BBC are filming in my street in 2 weeks time.

They have asked to use the outside of my house.

They have to fix fake windows and doors over my existing ones as the programme is set in the 80s.

They also need me to move the car to the bottom of the street.

Filming will last most of the day for 2 days.

I will not be able to get in and out of my house via the front door.

They haven't offered me anything for letting them do this, so I was just wondering if I should ask for some sort of payment and do they normally pay people for this?

My next door neighbour says he's getting paid and is getting a brand new door as they are taking his existing one off and putting a wooden one on.

What do you think?

'I will not be able to get in and out of my house via the front door'.

Hell yeah!!! Your neighbour getting paid and not you is a joke!

tell them unless they are willing to pay you something? I suggest £500, tell them NO

They really should offer you something for the inconvenience.

No idea what it would be though.

Take it the neighbour hasn't told you how much he's getting then?! :)

I would be holding my very big hands out. Remember that by making this programme they are going to be making profit so why shouldnt you make some money

Probably something along the lines of what your neighbour is getting. Wouldnt ask for much more than that otherwise... well thats just greed lol. Unless your ok with that.

Was just thinking, leave it until the last min, then say its too much hassle and you dont want to do it.

Instead of taking down the fake windows they can just pay you a very healthy amount :whistling:

He didn't say what he was getting.

He made it seem as if he was getting paid and nobody else.

He said there's money in it for him. No mention of the other 5 houses!

People register with agencies like Film London, and TV people look at appropriate properties and payment is made. You should ask your neighbour which agency he/she is using and also the BBC what they are paying for the use of the property. They should pay you a similar amoun, probably a bit lower. but contact the agency for gidance. One of them is Film London, www.filmlondon.com (I think, google it and you will find the correct link). There are others, google search for tv filming agencies, for example and you will get them.
Hope this helps.

am I missing something here, the bbc cannot just turn up and say oh we are using your house for filming get out.

If they dn't pay up tell them to do one. if they start to tamper with your doors and windows then defend your property with all reasonable force.

They put a letter through the door and went around but I was in work so have had all details of the neighbour.
