I don't eat egg, i don't eat meat, but i do eat fish :)

I'd say its not as its something that could potentionally turn into a living thing so I doubt Vegetarians would eat it.
#3
but would you avoid everything that was made using egg too?

Well I guess maybe Vegetarians would but Vegans wouldn't?

Its hard to know where to draw the line with things.

Me I'll eat everything but it doesn't bother me if someones a veggie.

chickens will lay eggs even if they haven't been firtilised so no chance of a life being inside

I'm vegetarian and eat eggs. The eggs sold to eat are not fertilised so can't turn into anything - apart from rotten eggs!

Nope, i eat egg but my inlaws don't. I always thought if you didn't eat egg that made you vegan.

I think vegetarians can eat eggs. Vegans can't. Eggs are unfertilised unless you buy them from a farm that happens to have a cockerel as well.
#10
The only vegetables I eat are cow, pig, lamb and chicken.
#11
it's a product from an animal so i would say eggs aren't veggie ...but there are different levels i suppose, you aren't actually farming and killing an animal to get an egg but it is a stage in it's birth cycle.

to all the veggoes, do you get tempted when you smell meat products cooking?

I've been a strict vegetarian for 23 years and can say that eggs are vegetarian as Susannah said they ae not fertilised so will never turn into a baby chick. They are meant to be free range though.

A vegan will not eat dairy products or use anything associated with the farming process ie by products such as leather. Where as a vegetarian will. Hope that answers your question

Lol same thing happened to me, a girl in school said it years ago but i still remember it.

Just to complicate the issue though not all eggs are veggie. I used to eat cod roe as it is only fish eggs but I then learnt that they have to kill the fish to get the eggs so I no longer egg them. Hen eggs are fine though!!

All animals slaughtered in the UK for food consumption are slaughtered in a humane manner. I don't think a cow would have fun whether I eat it or not.

If thats what you want to believe then that's fine....I'm not going to get into an argument about it. It's a free country and you are free to believe what you want. I would just say don't believe everything you are told and perhaps look at the other side of the coin.

My son came home from school this week and told me he wont eat eggs any more as they are little chickens..lol took me and hubby over 3 hours to make him understand the difference, gave him boiled eggs this morning for his breakfast and he looked at it, took the top off to check before he would eat it..LOL never mind i'd boiled it for 15 minutes
He said they are learning all about farm animals and what type we eat, so at 7 he'll turn in to a veggie if he'd veg..lol

Aww bless that's so cute!

i am vegetarian and so are my wife and 3 children, it is right what has been said, eggs are unfertilised so they will never turn into a chicken, confirmed by my daughter who is currentley doing a degree in zooology, i have had this argument many times, we also only buy free range eggs to try and make sure the hen has had a good life:)

The egg is produced by an animal bred almost certainly for the sole purpose of providing food for humans.

If I had vegetarianism then this might trouble me because on a philosophical level it is akin to the production of meat. Thankfully I don't.

chickens breed anyway .....they aren't "bred" ...it's just that humans have decided that eggs taste good

But you spend money at McDonalds, which some might say is a bit strange.

I personally wonder where people get their protein from without meat. There's only so much quorn one can stomach and whey protein isn't much better. Can't imagine not eating meat, especially as I love my leather boots and jackets too.

that is why our teeth and stomachs have evolved the way they have, to chew and digest meat. Animal remains have also provided protective clothing, but i also respect peoples life choices

Eggs are produced by chickens which are generally kept to provide meat and more eggs for people. I can understand therefore a vegetarian wouldn't want to eat them if they choose to be a vegetarian because of moral reasons. However many people now simply don't like meat, they choose to eat eggs as they like 'em, that's cool with me too. I dont eat meat around my vegetarian friends out of respect for their feelings and I make vegetarian meals to make my vegetarian daughter happy.

I think it's a personal choice what you decide to put into your own body.
