Rant from a grumpy old man - is it just me?

You know how drugs barons and criminals have their cash and property taken so that neither they nor their family benefit from their criminal activities?

Some fat cat bankers and traders who were involved in short selling and hedge fund manipulation over the last decade or so have paid themselves bonuses of up to £50million!

Do you think that they should now have their assets taken and put back into the system...

...or should we leave them alone and just let the little guys suffer as usual?

Thoughts please.

(No comments about merchant bankers rhyming slang please)

Def take the money back, one of the good thing about the bail out of the banks is that it is supposed to include measures to stop any big payouts to execs.

No - you are not a grumpy git! The biggest pi..er of all is the need to pay these people for making their cockups - how many people in normal day to day jobs get paid for doing a bad job when they are sacked? Ludicrous - when Northern Rock was bailed out who decided to give the pratt who got them into this mess a huge payout - wouldn't that money have better put to use to pay of several mortgages of those affected?

Give me a chance to be a grumpy cow bag on this subject and I can rant all day!!!!

I am now going to make a cup of tea and calm down!!

hmmm.......£50bn to the banks, leeme see who's that going to

That equates to £830 for every man, woman and child in the UK. How about giving that out to everyone (I would get £3320 for my household). And we all pay it into our bank savings account :o

Maybe my old memory playing up but didn't the goverment impose a windfall tax on the banks when they were doing too well? can we string them up and take their money too?

I agree with having a pop at the bankers I dont see anything wrong with bonuses, as long as they are for performing well, and not for screwing up!, but have thought that its time to have a go at the criminal fraternity, not just the drug barons. But everyone:

e.g
Whatever crime you committ as well as the current punishment, punish them financially by billing them for the true costs of their arrest and prosecution, police fees, doctor costs, CPS, trial etc.

Take the money at source from their wages/benefit, if they cant/wont work, some form of labour camp would be suitable.

If they have broken the law they should pay bonues back. If they have acted within the law, there is little we can do.
