Rant: Online shopping screwed my gift list over this year.

So its 6 days to Christmas and I recieved the Heroes box set from Tesco last week for £30 (as seen on HUKD) for a present for my wife, but it arrived ripped and the nugget that shrink wrapped it should have been shot. Customer services phoned, was told I couldnt exchange it in store and it had to be returned. It was returned and Tesco CS phoned again to make sure it would be here by Christmas. Huh? they say. No it was returned and your getting a refund so theres no chance you will get it before Christmas, oh and BTW its £42 now. But hey, we will refund you and if you re-order we will refund the difference, but it aint gonna be there by Christmas. So now the gift I bought 'from the kids' wont materialise.

5th of December I ordered the Family Guy season 1-6 from Littlewoods Direct (as seen on HUKD) delivery date today, the 19th ... oh no its not ... now its 7/1/2007 ... Whooppeeeeeee, I bought that for my wife too.

Lets not stop there though, I mean why? Lets see, Bratz movie bus thing I ordered for in store collection from Tesco, well our local Tesco, which is HUGE, in St Rollox (what does Rollox sound like?) retail park doesnt have a direct counter ... But I have a plan, err had a plan, get it delivered to Coatbridge and get my friend to pick it up and drop it off. Phoned Tesco to tell them who would be collecting it and ... WE JUST CHANGED THE RULES AND DECIDED NOT TO TELL YOU WHEN YOU ORDERED ONLY THE PERSON WHOS NAME IS ON IT CAN COLLECT IT AND THEY HAVE TO BRING THEIR CARD. So now we have to drive through to Coatbridge and collect the damn thing, because if we want it delivered we will have to have the order cancelled and put back through and it will make it £16 more expensive than what we paid for it.

If the computer parts I ordered on 3 day delivery from Ebuyer, for my brothers xmas, dont show up tomorrow I will most likely go nuclear because that will be someone else who isnt getting for xmas day.

Now I have to go to plan B (or something). She was going to get a Wii after Xmas and I was going to get a 360, holding out for better bundles :) But we have been buying the likes of the wireless entertainment pack, cod4, stranglehold and the pink wireless controller so I had something to open on Xmas day, which may seem insane but theres not a lot you can buy for me and I can wait till January for the console.

Now instead of giving her a top up with on Xmas day with Wii games I may have to get her the damn console at full price and miss out on a potential later bargain.

To top it off though this added stress comes on top of a particularly nasty cold/virus/something tiny thats really bad and been keeping me in bed for excess of 12hrs a day ... It really MUST BE CHRISTMAS!

I guess on the plus side though the kids will get their Christmas since we have been buying bargains for them all year, I will be so glad to get the toy shop out our bedroom and into theirs.

Well thats all folks, this rant may continue without notice and a special thanks to Tesco and Littlewoods for making this possible.

The wii won't reall drop in price if that makes you feel any better. It is still too popular, so go ahead and get one then at least you can all play it over xmas.

The Wii isn't gonna drop in price anytime soon, why would Nintendo drop the price of something thats so popular? Get the Wife it for xmas and 10 minuntes on Wii sports will cheer you up

Yea, I know what you mean but it was the actual bundles for the games ... I secretly also want a pack with Res Evil in it :whistling: But I was hoping bundles would be good. My friend got his bundle with wii play and another game for £245 ... Which is better than most bundles. Was just hoping for a nice bundle, well better than currently.
9/10 times retailers wont and cant drop the price of the consoles, they are bound by agreements, so what they do is discount the games and sometimes quite radically, thats talking from experience and once having the keys to the shop for one retailer.

Well there is, I know the secrets of life and the cosmos, but Im afraid your species is too young and I must remain bound to this body and the rules of this world until I can ascend ... so I cant even miracle stuff up like I used to. I miss the Pegasus galaxy :(

I doubt you'll find any good Wii packages at all in the next year- look at the DS, two and a bit years old and still the only deal you'll find is a free game. Nintendo have learnt from the past and now follow a strict policy of getting prices right at the time of launch. At £180 you'll have a good laugh on xmas day and boxing day- get one now just in case they go out of stock. Best value is to buy the Wii at retail and track down the games you want as cheap as possible- through this site I rarely pay over £20 for a Wii or PS3 game, so a pack for £245 with three average games will be more expensive than picking up three games you want. £180 for a console is an absolute steal, you'll always be able to sell it for £150ish if you get bored of it. Nintendo rock- i've owned 3 DS's now, purchased each for £100 with a game, sold each game for £18-20 and each DS for £70ish when i've fancied a change to a PSP or something else. What other companies sell a product that you can own for a year and sell for just a £10 loss?

Answer = None (Well none in this type of market anyway) Really must be some kind of record actually.
A friend sold an old style DS yesterday on Ebay and got virtually what they paid for it when it was first released. Amazing really.

:w00t:

Littlewoods just delivered TWO Family Guy packs, they charged me for two as well though but ... They sent me two freakin party packs RRP £130 for £55 each.
This means someone else who was getting £50 spent on them gets a special bonus. :santa:
Just need to get Heroes from Tesco sorted out by buying a box set from elsewhere, giving it for xmas, recieve new one from Tesco and return it in place of the one bought from elsewhere which prolly will be Tesco anyways. I am also picking up Bratz doodah on Saturday ... I love it when a plan comes together. We need a cigar smoking Hannibal smiley.
