That amount would have triggered an internal security alert, like Joey mentioned.

RBS were also reactive when ShopTo.net offered my credit card details to the world in 2009.

good im glad it did m8

its in their interest to stop it as they would be held liable

spotting an online transaction in a country you dont usually reside in wouldnt be hard to detect

just hope when youre on holiday or on business in a foreign country and need to withdraw you arent in the same position as i have been before......

even if they took 1 million from your account there is nothing to be worried about, not your problem, your always covered.
#8
oh, that goes for all your cards as well.

Would love it if the call wasn't from RBS and they just happened to guess the correct Bank you are with and THIS was the fraud rather than what they told you.

Well I wouldn't love it cus that'd suck but it'd be funny.

Well not really.

Have to say I really rate RBS security. Once had a card cloned in a garage in Milton Keynes. Within 2 hours the details were used to order a pizza in San Francisco, a laptop in Florida, a $1 paypay transaction and some tyres in Cleveland! Transactions stopped and then RBS security ask you for the last 4 transactions you know you actually did. Happened a couple of other times but it was me that triggered them. Had been shopping for Xmas and done 15 transactions in an hour. They rang to check it was me. The other time I had done a single transaction for £3,800 and they put the card on hold until they had cleared the one large transaction.

Whilst it is an inconvenience at the time they are acting in my best interests and so I am happy with it.

Personally I cannot fault them for what they have done.

wrong.

theyre acting in their best interests

if you cant fault them for what theyve done you clearly dont know much about them. fraud is rife from the heart of the company..... a quick google will help you garner a better understanding

They are anything but good, had my card blocked 3 times then cancelled when I moved flat for paying the council tax and electricity bills. Not the first time and I'm not alone.. As said above they are really only protecting themselves and more often the blocking or cancelling of cards is more of an inconvenience than anything else.

so you didnt inform the card company you were going abroad?

Most banks request that you inform them of any overseas visits beforehand

RBS anti-fraud called me a few times for legit purchases but better safe then sorry

RBS once paid in someone's ISA to my current account, and then closed my account, took 6 days to re-open....Whilst the anti-fraud team are fairly competent, the cashiers are not...
