i just thought id post to see if any people were sharing the same expiences as me while playing this game which seems to have been massively over hyped in my opinion..

the game started off great setting the tone well with the silent scar faced cowboy getting off the train but it was down hill from there for me, i cant really be botherd ranting for ever and while some aspects like the scenery can be superb im just gonna pop up a list of a few of the gripes i have as im yet to come across anybody who shares them:

1. john marston saying "miss mcfarlane" all the time in the first few missions
2. john marston being way too nice to people all the the time, he's just not mean enough!

i mean those are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things but the next two are the real borers

3. travelling - this comes under two topics firstly travelling generally around the map to destinations as the novelty simply wears off after the first few dozen times (and yes i know you can fast track but its still a blagg), and secondly travelling at the start of missions, im soo thankful for the missions where your a coach passenger and can skip the ride but simply following a person holding X and wiggling a little to follow a path for a few minutes is just a killer mind sap!! i struggle to stick with it, and theres no music to pass the time just john marston talking which ruins the illusion of a silent fella who keeps to himself like old eastwood....
4. the missions! wtf are they, with out giving away any spoilers, everything is for the sole purpose outlined in the opening scenes and all the missions do is blagg your time doing favours for people who are of no concequence to the reason you are meant to be playing the game... you let yourself get used and dont get what you want then let yourself get used some more, ultimately completing one brings no satisfaction as they are soo overly easy aswell!

well thats pretty much it anyways.. unfortunately those two major gripes ruin any enjoyment i feel i could get out of doing peripheral missions to the main plot as i would just feel my time was being wasted yet further..

john marston... he's just a bit rubbish really

+1, I don't want to me the nice guy. I want to go in to banks, shoot people begging me to spare their lives, hire hookers, shot a load anyone and everyone with gun in one hand and cigar in other whilst destroying over towns. Instead I do missions for stupid women capturing bad guys and collecting plants.

Haven't even started it yet. Still sealed in my collection.

Got Just cause 2 SE the other day and thought I'd do that first

It's GTA in the wilderness, you either like freeroaming games or you don't.
As for the characters attitude, the whole story line is that he is a reformed ex gang member so robbing banks etc is not quite what the game is about.
I have not done multiplayer yet but that should be the interesting part as it is freeroaming as well so you meet up at places rather than a do this and do that type game.

Thought you could become an outlaw in this game, the trailers would have you believe you could, you see him with a neckerchief over his face like he's gonna rob something he drags a guy behind him on his horse and shoots a guy at close range in the gut. also on youtube there is a guy who ropes up a woman lays her on the tracks for a train to hit her, there must be a moral path either good or bad in this game just like mass effect where you have paradigm or renegade.

you can do those things, though for the latter you would have to be incredibly patient waiting for the train to come round all the tracks, but you aint going to follow vandal or renegade path, you jsut help be out and let ppl use you... not for me, i wasnt a big GTA fan but prefered it to this
