reading & leeds festival tickets - can they be re-sold?

Hi,

Hubby, me and a few friends are thinking of going to reading or leeds festival but our friends have asked us to buy everyones at the same time.

If I buy their tickets and then they drop out will I be able to sell them on to someone else? or are they person specific like glastonbury?

Obviously I dont want to be stuck with tickets and be out of pocket.

Insist on payment before you buy them, then if they do drop out you are not out of pocket.

Seen these type of situations go horribly wrong and damage friendships before, just tell them funds are tight and you you don't mind ordering them all together as long as payment has been recieved. Just say I'm booking tickets on the openeing day if anyone wants one I need the money before then, no money no ticket. Why should you have t stump up all the cash?

a couple of them are saying they wont have the money till about a week afterwards so have asked if I'll just get them all.
I dont mind doing it as long as I know that I will be able to sell them if it all goes wrong, just dont want to get stung

Mt advice would be......

Make sure you get the money from your tickets upfront. Explain to your friends that tickets are non-refundable and if some of your friends drop out it then becomes their problem and not yours.

can you sell the tickets on or not? I dont mind doing it if I can sell them on if needs be. It is pants that we are always the ones that have to get tickets for everyone but some of my mates are sooo pants with money that we'd never be able to go anywhere with them if we didn't stump up the money first.

I think you can yeah! Last year there was people selling them on our work message board!! Think there is a limit to how many you can buy tho!

Friends? It looks as though your so called friends are taking advantage of your good nature, you should go out and make some genuine friends who can pay their own way.

well, its awkward as a few of them are family aswell. We are in a better financial position than them so it always falls to us to fork out.
As I said though, I don't mind as long as I dont get stuck with tickets that i ve paid for and cant get my money back on.

Does anyone know how many you can buy in one go? I think I need to get 6

You can sell reading and leeds tickets, but as others have said, dont pay upfront-if your friends cant afford to go,then they cant go. How many ads do you see here and gumtree where people have "dropped out"

"friends" do not continually take advantage of other peoples good nature imho-just tell them you cant afford to lay out all that money for months-I have a regular group of 4 people we go to gigs/festivals with and we each take it in turns to buy the tickets morning of sale, while the others are booking travelodge/travel etc at the same time, then we meet up within a day or so and settle up our shares.

that's a good way of doing it. Think I will have a talk with them all about it
