If it too good to be true then it normally is. I think that saying applies here.

Read the pink text half way down the page.

All companies are registered so you just google the details. Chances are they have used the name or address or details on there pages on another scam.

But the first thing you should be asking yourself is how can they sell a PS3 or whatever at half price!
Well they cant so there is the massive give away.

Pretty funny, they boast 16 years of superior customer service, they must have been selling playstation 3 pre orders for 14 years before it were released lol.

The net!

Well with your name and DOB and I guess you live in Yorkshire I could get your address, get a birth certificate, apply for a driving licence then open a bank account in your name get a credit card and set up a mail redirection with the post office. The possibilities are endless!

But I wont.

Just remember all personal info you put on the net that isn't on a secure page on a web site could be seen by anybody.

You can tell it's fake just from the URL. Despite being completly generic companies cannot use "apple ipod" in their domain name without a slap from Apple.

100% scam.

If you are unsure of ANY web site the first thing to do is find out when the actual web site was created.

A program caled WHOIS will tell you this. Here is one site that offers it:

http://www.whois.sc/

Enter the domain name you are interested in (just the "main" part, not all the extras).

So put: www.appleipodtouch8g.com and press Lookup.

You get all sorts of information about the site, including when it was created. For the site above it says:

Created: 2008-06-03
Expires: 2009-06-03

So this web site was first created on the 3rd June. Hardly 16 years experience.

A trip to WHOIS should be your first point of call when checking ANY web site.

Naive in the nicest sense of course.

New people enter the net on a minute by minute basis and until you gain the knowledge it can be a scary place.

One of the ways to gain that knowledge is by asking people on friendly forums like this one. The OP has done well to ask and those that have responded have been excellent in helping the OP and other possibly get scammed.

Long may it remain so.

Moral : If you're not sure or it looks too good then stop and ask a few questions until you are experienced enough to check yourself.

Rep for the helpful members
