i thought this, i looked on the net and some symptoms are similar, but it says it normally goes on its own after a couple of days without treatment and go to the doctors if gets worse.

You could try that in-throat spray. Should be able to pick it up from local Chemist.

me to, the worst thing i hate having is a sore throat and a tickly cough when you cant sleep, it just came on all of a sudden, i felt abit off yesterday aching and slight sore throat, then i hardly slept last night and was aching like mad today and throat even worse.

think if you look into the end of your mouth to see if you have these spots.

my partners just been to asda pharmacy and got me some throat spray and its not done a thing, ive had similar ones before that havent worked, i feel like taking it back lol at £5 a go for it to do nothing.

the only thing that gave me any relief when i had that kind of sore throat was a large brandy.. not much good if you have to work or drive but fine if you are about to go to bed.. numbs the pain just long enough to drop off to sleep. ;-)

head over bowl of steaming hot water - with lemon or drops of olbas oil.

I never really did that until recently as i never thought it would work - but it really does help a lot

Don't get me started on this! I've got tonsilitis...last night at 3am i was coughing up blood...its so sore, seriously i'm getting apprehensive about swallowing saliva, let alone food...its killing!!!
#14
Oraldine mouth wash is fab at reliving the soreness and fighting the bacteria - can buy in Tescos
#15
gargle with soluble aspirin, this always helped me.
#16
Ice cream or better still Ice lollies, cools the throat and helps the pain. Also take painkillers to take the edge off a bit more. A spoon of honey mixed with lemon can also help to speed recovery. Drink plenty of liquids, sipping constantly.

I've just got over tonsilitis myself again!!...
what i find helps is soluble co-codamol but also wouldn't be without my beloved Dequacaine throat lozenges which can be bought from the chemist, they contain local anaesthetic to numb the pain which makes it bearable to drink the souble painkillers.

Hot lemon and honey works a treat. The steam suggestion is also a good one.

For general soothing more regularly, sip milk.

i nearly got a throat spray with the same name as that i think, but they didnt have any so had to get a different one which doesnt really work, would you say these lozenges work as ive tried normal lozenges but they dont even seem to ease it.

Most deffo helps with the pain just becareful you don't choke...god that sounds bad lol, thats how much they numb the back of the throat, and i wouldn't be without them it states on the pack for severe sore throats.
Hope you feel better soon, but do go to the doctors it took my tonsilitis a week to come out this time and if your generally not feeling well it does sound like that is what you have got.
