Looks like you got a bargain,

a misreport is common. my computer thinks my card has 2gb and they don't make a 2gb version.

It might have the turbocache feature, which means it's borrowing half a gig of your system memory. Is your system reporting less memory than usual?

Yeah, it will be Hypermemory. My laptop has a 256mb dedicated but it shows as a 512 as it borrows from system RAM.

guess it could be this, thaks for the help guys. I've put a tech request in with gigabyte to see what they come up with. I was hoping they soldered two 512mb chips on instead of two 256mb's!

It will be hypermemory. My system RAM still shows up as 2gb even though it could be borrowed.

It won't be borrowing ram as my abit ip-95 matx board doesn't support it. It doesn't have onboard video at all, but thanks for your input

Use GPU-Z to check.

yep that's quoting 512mb. Thing is it's also saying GDDR3 memory which is a bonus as I thought the card was DDR3 only
