It depends on school and possibly area. Here its September ONLY.

Ours intake in sept, jan and april. Its a little village school though, but the other local near me which is 4x as big only has one. Maybe School size has something to do with it?

When I was a school governor, we definately had 2 intakes. This was done to assist parents and the logic was that the school year stradled 2 years. At least that was my understanding.

Not all schools necessarily do this.

My eldests school is September only but i know some others in the area have 2 intakes. You'll need to ring your choices of schools and ask for a definitive answer.

schools used to have an easter intake - but my daughters ( nursery ) has changed to Jan / sept - got a phone call in feb to say that a place had come up due to a child leaving so she started after the half term hols .. otherwise i would've had to wait until Sept :)

September only here

My daughter starts Half day on Monday then goes full time in June, I have been taking her to link up to the school 2 hours a week since march. I live in South Wales though and think its different here as they start full time nursery at 3. Think they take kids full time sept, jan, april and june.

September only here too, was gutted as my DD is a early september baby and ended up doing 2 full years of Nursery class. As annoying as 2 yrs of half days were, it has worked wonders on her as she is now a yr ahead of herself. Does yr 3 work while in yr 2.

Have no idea where she gets its from though lol

Most areas now only do Sept intake, although you have the right to keep your child out of school until they are 5

Was just going to say this , Sept only in our school but if your child has not long turned four then you can opt for half days ( a boy in my sons class did this ) , and he was older than my son , we didnt opt for this as my son was ready for full time school and has come on leaps and bounds since .
