Just noticed the post about the european health care for free and thought i would share my knowledge about the countries that we have reciprocal health care (agreement with the UK to offer free healthcare, some countries limit what you recieve) with when travelling outside the EU,

Found this out unfortunately when i travelled to Australia last year with my 75 year old mum to stay with my brother for 3 months and she fell down the stairs and broke her hip, ended up staying for 4 months as she couldnt fly home and was confined to bed for 9 weeks!!!

She had her operation and stay in Hospital, all xrays & outpatient costs, physiotherapy etc covered by the agreement, we had to pay for her medication when she was out of hospital and we had to pay for the ambulance ($890 dollars!!!! & we moan about the NHS), i never knew about this agreement and it is always best to take insurance as we all know but its good to know,

Countries covered below, there are some that im not sure you would go on holiday to, but it does cover Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, Anguila etc,

Non-EEA member countries

* Anguila

* Kyrgyzstan
