when i joined the gym and needed running trainers for the treadmill everyone suggested acis and new balance, i opted for the acis and have to say they are fab - dont get them from proper running shops jjb and other sports shops sell them for cheaper.

JJB are awful for buying running trainers...Go to a proper running shop - get them to measure your feet properly and they might even do gait analysis if you're lucky (they put you on a running machine). Then they'll recommend a pair (which you can then get online cheaper!) Failing that, Asics, saucony and new balance are excellent in my opinion. I think most runners (including myself) think that nike trainers are awful for running in. Hope this helps!

Asics are meant to be very good and I've never had a problem with my nike airs (two half marathons and all the training involved)

I sort of did what you suggest i went into a specialised running shop got them to advise me on what trainer etc would suit my foot and then went and brought them from jjb, have to admit the customer service was naff, but like someone else posted i got the acis gels and i have to say they are wow on my feet.

Aye currently on th asics gels at the mo, i just go to jjb and try some on when im ready for new ones , as long as they are light and comfy im sorted, currently trying some iron man gel insoles also, not sure if they add anything to my runs, maybe a gimmick dunno. One thing makes me laugh tho....the amount of lads who come to the gym in nike RIFTS and attempt a run on the treadmill, average time is about 2 mins ive worked out over past few years haha, they must tear your feet to shreds!

NB and Asics are generally good for running.
