Blood The Last Vampire anime movie is very good, there is a series too bu havent seen it.

There is about 5 or 6 variations of Tenchi Muyo.

Ranma is hilarious, Inuyasha is about a half wolf/dog demon who goes on a quest with the reincarnation of his dead lover who is from present day and sent back to his time in the past.

lol, i was gonna do the same at your post for samurai champloo, awesome!

op, why not bleach, the story is pretty good at the moment, some epic battles with great animation. you can skip the filler episodes.
Also in the process of obtaining neon genesis evangelion.
Angel Sanctuary is brilliant, and I love Oh My Goddess! and Elfen Lied.
My daughter loves Anime, I'm sure Deathnote and Fullmetal Achemist are 2 of her faves.
Ranma 1/2 is really really good. you can get it dubbed on DVD. really reccomend.
Samurai Champloo is by the same person who did Cowboy Bebop and is amazing.

I really enjoyed Full Metal Alchemist but haven't seen the new 'brotherhood' version yet.
been a few years since i have seen any anime but these ones.
Legend of the overfiend, fist of the north star and Spirited away is a fanstastic little film.
amazon list here
Definitely Samurai Champloo if you like Cowboy Bebop. I'll also second some of the others mentioned: Evangelion (the series, the new movies or both), Fullmetal Alchemist, Tenchi (the original OVA's are the best) and Death Note. Also have to add Gurren Lagann and Eden of the East.

If you like DBZ why not Bleach and Naruto? They're not far removed from DBZ tbh.

You mention seeing GitS, but have you seen the movies or the series (Stand Alone Complex)? If you've only seen one definitely check out the other.

As for other recommendations....hmmm depends what you're after, for starters try:

Action: Black Lagoon, Elfen Lied, Full Metal Panic.
Comedy: Azumanga Daioh, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School Host Club
Slice of Life: Haibane Renmei, Ah! My Goddess!

Also film wise checkout The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars and anything by Satoshi Kon
Yeah you should check out the ghost in the shell tv series, they were pretty damn good. There were 2. The second ghost in the shell film was ok as well.

Tenchi Muyo is a pretty expansive series now, with OVA and tv series and films a plenty. I'd try and start at the beginning if you can!

Beat the Vandal Buster is pretty good and Eyeshield 21 is also a pretty good series. Shame the fansubs stopped for it.
Check out all of the Studio Ghibli films, on ebay you can get a "Malaysian Version" boxset with them all in for about 17quid, about 80% of the boxset is subtitled I believe and 20% dubbed
