I'm thinking of getting a 125cc motorcycle and was looking for some recommendations? Don't want to spend too much as just want it to go for a spin when the mood takes me as have no real need for it as got a car and don't even use that.

Honda cg125 - having my lessons on one of these and find them comfortable

I've had a Honda CG125 and a Sachs XTC 125. Just about to do my full test now so moving on up.

Decide what kind of bike you want Sports/Cruiser and learn as much as you can about them if your on a budget. You will be having plenty to fix if you buy cheaply

Just seen a pic and a review looks alright, prob wouldn't be first choice looks wise though but thats a minor thing for me considering what to get and had good review.

What price would I be looking at for a new or newish 1?

Not entirely sure what I want. I like some of the sports bikes but find the 125s don't suit the look due to the size although the Sachs XTC 125 looks sweet. I also fancy a scrambler type bike or something like http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikes-for-sale/searchresults/detail/Kawasaki/EL125-ELIMINATOR/2008/_/R-NXGN-7545406

I'd be looking to get a new or nearly new bike as don't want one which has been driven to death.

Don't get a Sachs, trying to source parts is a nightmare. The Aprillas are not bad 125s although again they have been thrashed usually.

Start with Gumtree. If you just want something for occasional use, have you thought about the cheap crap Chinese bikes flooding the market? My Instructor swears by them as a 125cc

Not too fussed about makes or chinese bikes just once its a good ride and reliable. Any of the Chinese ones you can recommend?

How quick do you want it nicked ? the better looking, the quicker it will go

I know I had a moped 7 years ago and it was a bit too fancy for a moped so there was a few attempts to nick it or damage it but this bike will be locked up

Just took a wander to bike shop across from work and quite like the look of the Valadero. Any thought on it and whether thats a good price?

I know I'm going to look into trying to get a saturday 1 for next week and get on the road on the Monday. It's weird cos feel slightly nervous about it even though dove moped for a couple of years although a long time ago and been driving cars for years

EDIT: Anyone know of any test centres around Glasgow that do a Saturday CBT?

Also will I need my car driving license to complete the CBT as I have lost my card recently and only have the paper copy so need to get a replacement?

Get yourself an XT125X

I bought the Mrs 1 for her first bike. Bullet proof engine, just don't get one off a scrote who's revved the knackers off it.

Lots out there with very low milage. Mrs has done 1500 miles in 2 years on hers ! It's like brand new. ;-)

You will need to take your passport along to prove who you are, I'd ring to make sure they are okay with this though.

Doubt you'll get a CBT that soon, I had to wait ages

I only checked with 1 place so far and they had a couple of places next week but didn't do weekends so I can't do it because of work :(
