Going to Manchester and wondered if anyone can recommend a good Indian/Thai or Italian restaurant in the city centre?

Thanks for any help!

A favourite of mine was always the Grand Buffet near Oxford Station. It's an indian restaurant.

Directly below there is a huge Chinese buffet, the Number 1 I think it's called, it's also very nice in there!

If you want a really nice curry you're better off getting the bus to Rusholme and having a look down the curry mile :).

Hi
Indian.....
East Z East gets good write ups.

We've been to Akbars - very good, but cannot book unless 10 or more.

Also love Petra 267 Upper Brook Street Manchester - a Middle Eastern restaurant.

Hope that helps with the Indian ones!!

Not quite in the city centre, but Nawaab on Stockport Road in Levenshulme is certainly worth a vist. They say they are the biggest Indian buffet in the country... Its about £12 a head. If you do go, the starters are the best, so dont save too much space for the mains!

Other than that, as previously stated, both East is East and Akbars are nice and centrally located (theres 2 branches of East is East and one offers free valet parking). Another (Indian) one that I hear alot about is Zouk, though Ive never been to the Mcr one and didnt think much about the original in Bradford.

The Nawaab is very nice.

Also, one of my favourites in Rusholme is the Pink Garlic, which is a buffet, with a mix of Indian and Chinese food, it's delicious.

I used to like Pink Garlic till I read this report:

But I guess, all restaurants in such a close proximity such as 'Wimmy' Rd sufer from it - its just a case of what they are doing to treat it....

I only started going there recently, from what I can gather it's had a mini-refurb. To be honest you can see into the kitchens from the buffet counter and it all looks to be fairly clean. Put it this way I have a very sensitive stomach and I've never been ill after eating there, but perhaps I'm just lucky!

Yes....Zouk is another good Indian in Manchester. Its down the side street opposite the BBC.
We went there once when they had a good offer (like you do!!)
You had to toss a coin after you'd ordered, then if you won the toss - you got your meal for FREE.
There was no way you could loose!! Anyway...both hubby & I won, so effectively we were to get our meal for free. However.....we enjoyed the meal so much (loads of unusual things on menu) that we felt we HAD to leave a £20 tip.
This was also the night of the most fabulous 'Elbow' concert at Bridgewater Hall, so probably one of the best nights,,,,,,EVER!!!

The Nawaab is very nice.

Do you guys know how much they charge for kids? I have 3 and 6 year old, both poor eaters. Thanks. :)
