12 monkeys
Donnie darko

Silent Running

Frequency is okay not sure if I would classify it as Sci Fi - story is - due to sunspot activity a son can speak to his father 25 years back in time using the amatuer radio he got from same father.

Forbidden Planet (has the best robot ever, good musical too)

A TV Series but worth watching: Battlestar Galactica.
Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick
Blade
Aliens Quadroligy
Predator 1/2
Men in Black

Serenity is a class film  others that spring to mind that haven't been mentioned are stuff like Aeon Flux, V for vendetta (not really that sci fi but set in the future), Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy, if you like your computer games, Final fantasy and Final fantasy Advent children are good though i'm sure others will disagree :giggle: Logans Run (a classic) i'll try and think up some more later and i'm guessing no ones mentioned starwars yet as its so obvious :?

I watch FF advent children for the first time the other night. I've had it for a while but never watched it. Have to say I really enjoyed it which surprised me cos I wasn't holding out much hope for it TBH. You REALLY have to knoe the story behind it though :?

Maybe you need to watch Firefly to understand how good Serenity is?

Yeah, I think that's true.

Yep, I can't imagine watching Serenity without having seen Firefly - characters such as the Shepherd would just seem meaningless making it seem odd the film would pivot on such people.

For something different try the Cube series of films. Also Hellraiser series is good.
After watching the Matrix I found there were a few other films along the same lines, will look up the titles.

Dark City and Thirteenth Floor are good matrix type movies. Also Cypher, Fightclub, Donnie Darko, Brazil.

I'll go with Total Recall, Blade Runner and Close Encounters. Not so sure Flesh Gordon belongs there though! (I actually saw that at the cinema as a kid - extremely funny at the time, but a wee bit dated now I would think!)

Why did you find it boring -- its more a psychological sci fi tbh

I will watch the series when it actually ends i got 12 episodes in on the sci fi channel and couldnt be bothered to wait every week for it
#27
ive heard star wars and star trek are pretty good
#28
Maybe it was more my frame of mind that day when i watched it. May give it another watch to see, however my OH and myself both was not impressed by it. Cant give valid reason why either, just one of those things, lol
#29
I'd recommend Spaceballs, but it's more of a parody of Star Wars than actual Sci-Fi :)

Serenity is awful

Hitchhikers was rubbish imo

Philistein you've got absolutley no taste :giggle: Thought of some more i like while i was out, some stalone ones, Demolition man and Judge dread, neither particuarly fancy films but both good action flicks also i would say the startrek films though you've either seen them or would slap me for suggesting them :whistling: also don't think anyones said equilibrium yet

You may want to put the series Firefly, Battlestar Galactica and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on your list, all 3 are awesome series and the Hitchhikers series is far better than the movie in my opinion :)
