Virgin Media has pulled out all the stops by offering the highest rate ever seen on Quidco for cable packages. At a massive £165 cashback for taking out any cable package (broadband, phone and/or TV), you’ll be paying just £17.25 per month! Ends midnight Friday 24th

Relatively new to this, so my apologies.

SHUSHH dont tell me! just got a broadband package off them... :(
#5
and would you believe it! i bought the cable package 2 weeks back! :(
#6
Just wish I was in a Virgin Media area :(
#7
So would you get £165 for signing up for just the 50mb service?
Or would it have to be a bundle of some sort? ie. phone & BB/phone, TV & BB.
#8
Simlar query - could you get this if you just signed up to the just the basic TV or just 10MB broadband? Any one who has got cash back in the past able to shed some light on this?
#9
I've had cashback in the past for this deal. You are able to take just one package such as the 10Mb broadband only deal which is £15 for 3 months followed by £20 for the remaining 9 months to qualify for the cashback. No phoneline required with this deal either, the internet comes down the same cable as the TV instead.

We've been without broadband for the last few weeks (been using a dongle recently) waiting for the cashback on the O2 deal to go back up again but this is looking more tempting now.

There's appears to be a compulsory installation fee on this package of £20 for a self intall or £40 for an engineer which is a bit of a pain since we already have the equipment in place since Virgin were are previous ISP but it still works out as a good price overall.

*Plus a Virgin phone line for £11.99 a month.

Quidco "notifications" such as this are not allowed in the deals section.
It basically depends on the manner of how the OP posts the deal.

A posting of a deal which soley describes the cashback element of the deal alone, similar to what the OP has done here, will always be moved to the misc section.

However if the OP would have described this deal as something along the lines of "Virgin Media 10Mb broadband £15 for 3 months then £20 for 9 months plus £165 Quidco - no phoneline required" then it would have been allowed in the deals section as they would have been including the other elements of the deal and not just the cashback on it's own.

Hope that helps clear things up.

There's two options for broadband packages - with OR without a phoneline.

Obviously you get a discount on the price of the broadband if you take it with a phoneline.

I've just ordered tv and broadband separately from them, £330 tracked in quidco already :D

link to the deal the same as this please?
ie just talking about how much quidco pay without any other details.
Quidco isn't guaranteed so should never be used just as a deal

Yes, you can use with just with tv.

So basically if I go for the cheapest TV package I get the deal for:

£12.50 a month (with no phone line) * 12 months + £40 installation = £190 - £165 = £35

So less than £3 for TV a month or am I missing something?

Yep that's it mate. ANY TV, phone or broadband (except National Broadband) qualifies for the £165 cashback. Doesn't matter how cheap the deal is!

@OP where does it say the deal finishes at midnight Friday?

It said it in the email I got.

Virgin Media RECORD BREAKING EXCLUSIVE £165 cashback from Virgin Media for ANY cable package - broadband, phone and/or TV. Offer ends Friday!

Well could not resist, went for the TV only package M+ for £12.99 (no phone line) + £40 installation.

My quidco already tracked at £165 (within half an hour of placing the order) well impressed.

Happy days

Via TCB (guarantee pending) I ordered the student 10mbit £20/m
Now the student banner says £20 install charge
BUT, my review of order clearly stated:
Free installation
Your order qualifies for free standard installation or £40 off early morning installation
But as I'm not a NUS Extra Cardholder do I still need to pay the £20 activation fee?

Means £45 for 9months 10mbit instead of £25, would be nice to know either way though.

Just ordered the broadband L without the phoneline. Works out at £6.50 a month after Quidco.

The small print before you get to the checkout says you have a choice of self install for £20 or engineer install for £40 but when you get to the checkout itself you are at first only given the option of "£40 one time cost". The £20 option seems to disappear.

I was about to cancel the order until I discovered you can change it to a £20 self install later on after you've entered all your details and done the credit check.

It seems a bit daft that you can't select this option immediately and I bet quite a few other people have been put off by it being hidden away like that.

It's also annoying that we have to pay this charge in the first place as we've already got an Ambit cable modem which we got off them two years ago and used until we canceled a few weeks ago!

Just thought I'd let everyone know who might be having trouble finding the option.

Thanks for the info - will see if the £20 option comes up at the checkout... My gf is signing up for this deal and doesn't want to pay £40 for someone to come and plug the router into the wall when we're perfectly able to do it ourselves! £40 is a rip off unless they're coming to do the wiring into your house or something and very sneaky of them for hiding the self install option as you said...

where's rep when you need it lol! I'll "like" your post instead :D

I just presumed that with me not being a student I wouldn't be able to get the student offer. Have you blagged it yourself and if so did it work? If so I might consider canceling and reordering the student one myself. Do they ask you to input your NUS card number or provide any proof of being a student at all?

I checked carefully, nothing was asked re: student status
I have a confirmed installed date of early October
Took TCB 24hours but they matched QuidCo and because of their topup scheme I have £169 cashback on this :)

Been trying to do the maths on this one. Standard 12 month deal vs. Blagging the 9 month student deal.

With the standard deal it might be a slightly longer contract but for those extra 3 months I'll get a £5 discount per month = £15 off. I'll also only have to pay an extra 1 x £20 on the standard contract (for the router) whereas on the student deal it seems I'll not only have to pay the £20 for the router but also another £20 for activation = total of £40 extra on top of the subscription price.

So despite the fact the student contract might be 3 months shorter I'll end up paying an extra £35 over the course of that contract compared to the standard 12 month contract on a like by like basis - although saying that at least with the student contract I'd be free to look for another deal and get more Quidco three months earlier.

It's proving very difficult to work out which is the best value for money deal. It seems a case of swings and round abouts to be honest and probably only pennies in it at the end of the day. You seem to have been lucky getting away with the added £20 install charge and maybe that helped tip the balance for you.

There's also the added dilema of the fact that the Quidco for my original order has already tracked and do I risk canceling that and making a second order for which there's always the chance the Quidco won't track and I'd have to rely on making a manual claim.

Seemed tempting at first and it's still good to know I'd be able to blag the student deal should needs be in the future but think I'm going to stay put for now.
