You need to use recovery software, of which there are loads.
I've used this one in the past sucessfully - http://www.recovermyfiles.com/

Depends how important it was, I'm guessing there are programmes available to retrieve deleted data.

I am sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

You need to stop using that PC immediately to have much chance of recovering the file.
If you go to another PC and do a web search for undelete utilities, there are millions. Some are easier to use than others. I haven't needed to do an undelete since it was dropped from DOS.

Technically speaking when you delete something you're just marking the pointer to where the file is stored on disk as unused. The undelete utils simply look for those pointers. As soon as you create a new file on that PC you might reuse that pointer or area of disk.

So, from your spare PC download the undelete app onto a memory stick, plug it in where you want the undelete to happen and just run it from the stick, don't "install" it. If it needs installing it will probably loose you the file permanently.

Download Tuneup Utilities 2010 >>> Install it (15 Day Trial) >>> right-click on recycle bin & select 'Tuneup Undelete' >>> Select the drive to scan >>> type in your search critieria & select 'Next'.
