usually dont you get asked this in your application anyway?
and when i have completed reference questionaires (sometimes sent instead of being asked to write a reference) i have been asked to tick boxes about time-keeping, sickness and efficiency.

May be better for him to tell the prospective employers before they ask his old ones?

Fraid so, I have had to fill in questionairres about my staff so there is no hiding place for poor timekeeping/absence..

i'd suggest he goes back to work as soon as he can, if he's off stressed about the upcoming redundancy it doesn't look good to a potential employer, sorry.

^^ most go off sick but not for 8 weeks with stress, tbh I'd be worried too. If you were an employer would you employ someone currently off work with stress unless they were head and shoulders above the other candidates?

They would ask him.

Whatever the reason, 8 weeks is a long time.
I doubt that I have 8 weeks off in all my working life.

guess he's had it then! Either that or hope that the employer is human and understands that occassionally people get ill and it does not mean that they are incapable of working! i didn't think that they could specify why you had actually been off work under DPA?


He's best to be up front with any new employer and show them the doctors note before they find out for themselves. Problem is only people in 9-5 jobs seem to get ill enough not to be at work. I've not been ill enough to stay off work for 8 years. Strange that.

off work with stress to me screams can't handle pressure to me. I wouldn't even bother calling him in for an interview.

hiya

most references ask, but more and more employers are not supplying the information (under the data protection act), also there is a change to legistlation that means "pre employment checks" are no longer done unless the person is offered a post.

hope hubby gets better and that the stress of redundancy is not making things worse!
