Hi

What it is I want to reformat my Packard Bell pc. The problem is I didn't get a disc with as it (OS) was already uploaded and installation started when I switched the PC on. However I still have the serial number for its installation

Im not sure what to do as I thought I need a disc to reformat it. Its on a Windows Media Centre XP.

Any Ideas?

You might find it the case with your system that you have a Recovery Partition, which is a hidden disk partition with the OS already on it, which can be restored using a key combination of sorts. Check your manual to see if that has any tips.

yes check the manual. or check Program/start and there will be restore os or something like that.

My packard bell has a D: drive with the necessary files, & a recovery program within the Start/Programs menu to help restore, so hopefully yours will have too:thumbsup:

Yes same here. I have a HP computer and I had to burn the files to DVD, so when I formatted I had to pop the disk in and go through how you boot from a normal boot-setup.

when i got my laptop (acer) it diddnt come with an xp but had the serial number on the bottom, i emailed acer and said that im getting an error when burning the files so they sent me an xp cd.

Packard Bell's usually have a partition(mine and my parents did) only annoying thing is if you ever delete that partition as soon as you reinstall using the recovery disc it remakes the recovery partition so its annoying if you have a small HD.
