I want to return a video game I bought yesterday but I've read on their website that entertainment products are not covered by the 28 day guarantee. I still have the receipt but I'm returning the game as I don't really like it I know they won't give me a refund for this reason but if I use the old 'I bought it for someone's birthday...' do you think I could get a refund?

it depends which member of staff you get, its the same with dvds and books, i took a dvd back and it was accepted but next time i tried it was a different staff member and they wouldn't! i would say if you are going in anyway then its worth a go but don't make a special trip to try!

since september it is asda policy to refund games and dvds without question-sealed or not, reciept or not-this is companywide rules-shouldnt matter which staff member you get.

Not my experience without a receipt. They had to be pushed really hard to hand over one of their cards with the credit on it - made quite a fuss about it before eventually giving in.

in my experience of supermarket retailers i have found that its the individual that is on the customer service desk that is the problem. sometimes they think the money is coming out off their back pocket. send youre nan if you have one, or borrow someone elses. get them to take the game back and say they bough it for their grandson and hes not got the games console. always pay cash too, as they then give you cash back. another good time to go into exchange is the weekend. they usually have a saturday staff working, and they dont generally care or mind.....

didn't know of this change in policy - if its in print somewhere i would print it out so you can show it if you get any grief!

tell them it came unpackaged and someone had already bought it for you for your birthday! worked for me! ;-)

in my experience they have been brilliant, - no receipt took back a tv and they gave me a gift card

don't most asda's open them and put cases on the shelf, then you buy the case and take reciept to CS?
