Ok iv now bought my private reg plate and have the

Registration certificate V5C
Mot Cert
and the

V750 which is the new reg docs payment etc, this is all i need to change the car plate.

Now the question is,

My local DVLA office is in dundee and i can go there tomorrow morning, but will the change over the plate details there and then?
Will i be coming home with my new plate reg actually on the car? lol

has anyone done this or had to wait further for the details to go thru the system?

thanks for any help folks

yes, in my experience, you take the paperwork (and have new plates in the boot ready)
once paperwork is done (on the day) you can fit the plates

NB don't forget to tell your insurance company

just so you dont get a ticket if the car is waiting in the car park while your in the dvla centre lol

best to get them direct from DVLA - cut out the "middleman" mark-up
http://www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk/home/
price includes transfer fee (still have to buy the physical plates for about £10 each)

I seem to recall that your "new" tax disc is issued on the day

Dont buy a Private reg plate other than the direct DVLA

all the other companys add money on, or pretend to give you a bargain....when it isnt

Yes they issue you a new tax disc, so you have to take your old one into the office with you.

it's not a same day service anymore - be prepared for a long wait as well as the dundee office is a nightmare!
[helper]#22
I noticed the "please take a ticket" which musy indicate it gets busy
[helper]#23
Got it changed and the new reg is now on
woo hoo same day service

bloody hell - that's very impressive....maybe i just got a grumpy one last time, although i did have to get a new number assigned to an old car which confused them no end as it was a 1974 car with a 1976 plate on it which they kept saying shouldn't be possible!
