Renault Megane 2004 keycard thingy

It looks like I managed to throw out my keycard in the bin as I have searched high and low and cant find it anywhere.

Fortunately, I have the spare but feel a bit nervy at only having 1 now.

I see you can get replacement keycards on fleabay but when you google to re-programme the card it depends on which site you look at as to whether you can actually do it or not.

Does anyone know for a fact if it can or can't be done.

Cheers.

i have always been told you have to have the keycard programed at the renault garage and they will not program cardkeys which have been brought elsewhere.

True, you have to go to a renault garage. I had mine reprogrammed last year - it was £55 (had to be ordered from France as mine is a '98) for the key and £70 for the programming. Also, if the key hasn't been used for a year, it loses its code and needs reprogramming anyway - well that's what the man said at the Renault dealership in Digbeth. It was another £15 for the blade. Hope this helps.

As a fact, you can NOT get the Megane II keycards reprogrammed.

Darn, this is starting to sound expensive. My spare wasn't used for over 3 years. Fortunately, it works fine.

Dad put his old key card in the washing machine and it wouldnt work after that. He asked about getting a new one and was told it would be about £150. He just used his spare one because he didnt have long until the car was replaced anyway. He hadnt used his spare key for over 2 years and it was fine

The new Laguna III keycards are washing machine tested.

The keys do not need to be reprogramed after a year, and im sure its a total cost of around 150 from a reanult garage.

Good to know, the old car was a laguna and so is the new one.
