Hi me and my father picked up a renault megane scenic we won of ebay and went to drive it home 120 miles when suddenly after 10 miles it cut out and wouldnt start, after waiting a few min it started and of we went again, but then this happend again, we ended up leaving it at my sisters house in london and left rac to look at it, they said its a engine sensor so yesterday we replaced it and its still doing the same thing, just wondering if anyone on here owns one and has had similar probs or are they common for this?

thanks

ps: its the 1.4 16v model year 2000

i wouldnt say its the problem as im not any kind of mechanic but if its an older scenic they are prone for head gaskets going.

it might be a solenoid problem as have had this on a clio

Your head is dead, they all go on scenics, hope you have at least a grand spare cash for repair

My folks had this problem with an older scenic, it's a set of 4 coils that were a well known problem, someone mentions it here.

we had a scenic for 6 months and was in the garage 9 times, in the end after changing all the pipe work under bonnet and alsorts the head gasket went. I just sold it on Ebay and got rid of the thing!! More hassle than needed.

It's a Renault, they are designed to breakdown on a regular basis.
