If you took a broken television back to the shop where you'd bought it a year and a month ago and were told you were out of luck as the guarantee had run out, would you accept this? Or would you demand a repair or replacement? Sadly the overwhelming majority of us would probably accept the shop's word that it was out of guarantee.

Sadly to few of us know our rights. I think that retailers should have a mandatory fine if their staff try the "Sorry, it's out of the 12 month guarantee period".

Even when you advise people, you have clowns that have no clue reinforcing this misconception banded about by the retailers:
Yeh, its old news (as far as that law is concerned) but great to see someone have a test case. Opens the flood gates.
I always thought the 2 year rule was not adopted in the UK as the SOGA gives greater protection, i did read this somewhere but cant find it now.
