I have a old photo of my parents , but its very badly scratched, like lines all over it.

Could anyone recommend some good software i could try to maybe elimate the lines

One thing i dont have any experience with is photo editing etc.

I have scanned the photo and have it on my computer.I would love to be able to make the photo look better and blow it up to a large size to be put in a frame

I would appreciate any advice on a program to use, or even a website that deals with this kind of thing

thanks

http://www.getpaint.net/

(freebie)

scan it in the very best resolution of your scanner

but using the clone tool over the troubled areas is as much art as it is technical

Picasa (www.google.com/picasa) is good for basic edits (including touching up) and photo organisation. If that won't do it then you are looking at something like GIMP (www.gimp.org) but that is a lot more powerful and therefore complicated. I would give Picasa a go first.

paint.net is the best free photo editing software that I know of:

http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

Download link:

http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html

Otherwise there are free trials of photoshop CS5:

best freeware application you can use without having to pay for photoshop would be a programme called gimp. Very powerful app. Easy tutorials are available to restoring photo's using it by googling it. Hope it helps
