Replacement iPhones unlocked?

As title says -

I've had a few replacement iPhone 3GS's which have been locked but have just sent my iPhone 4 (vodafone) to be replaced and am wondering the likely hood that it will come back unlocked?

I ask as I see a lot of threads from people that say this is the case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe be unlocked but when you restore it , it will relock (if it comes unlocked it will be an error)

It will be locked, Apple phones have to be registered using iTunes and that's when it gets locked if the previous one was locked to a particular network, in your case Vodafone
