Alright computer misc. I've never replaced an internal optical drive on a laptop and was wondering if there is anything that I might have overlooked with this procedure... or if there is anything I can do to get the drive functioning properly
Basically the disc holder (black piece of plastic) has separated from the spindle of the drive. When I manually plug it back on it is able to read CDs but not DVDs or Blu Rays (It's a Vaio BD-RE drive)
I think it is done for and unfortunately it is out of warranty now, so I was thinking of just buying a replacement sony vaio internal BD-RE optical drive here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-BD-5730S-Internal-Slimline-Blu-Ray/dp/tech-data/B002XZM1L6/ref=de_a_smtd
Then basically screw here and and there pull it out and plug this in.
Is that the best solution for getting blu ray functionality again on the vaio it's AW series?
