I got my results a couple of weeks ago, and I got a C in psychology and History, a D in english, and a U in biology.
Tbh the U was expected, but I wish the D had been a C. I am going to retake the exam, but seeing as I struggled so much last year I don't know If ill be able to cope with that A2 and the AS exam!
Is it worth retaking the AS year, with different subjects instead of biology and english?
I don't particularly fancy the idea of being with the year below, and getting my AS results when everyone else my age is getting A2 results, but I'm seriously considering it..
Anybody else done this?
Advice and opinions would be great!
Thanks
Jack

I don't want to sound rude or anything but did you spend the year messing around having fun?

As I did this the first year after my GCSE's as I felt the teachers really didn't support you as a student, so I decided to go to College instead.

Why not just continue psychology history and english and get 3 A2's?

You can up your grades?
And hopefully get BBC?

I would like to think that would be possible, but that means that I would have to take 3 retakes as well as the 3 A2 exams..
History and Psychology I could possibly cope with, but I'm not sure I could cope with english..

I felt the teachers couldn't care less for you at that stage as you arn't really there concern.

If there is a college near you maybe it would be more wise to seek a specialised course that gives you several A levels for Uni. I did an AVCE there are plenty of others, and I wider variety of subjects.

Well.
Education is important.

I could provide a third view, you could think because you didnt work as hard as you could in the first year, then youve gotta try even harder in the 2nd year.

Or perhaps consider a 3rd year?

Actually the teachers are quite good at my school
I've sent my form tutor a email this morning seeing what he thinks..
I'm going to discuss the idea with my parents and see what they think..
I wasnt going to, but then my friend told me, and tbh it got me thinking that if he has the guts to do it, why Can't I..

A 3rd year as in, if you carry on with A2, and decided you only wanted to do 2 a levels in that year.
Then in your 3rd year, do the other, + something else?

Thus meaning if you want to go uni you Should have some good grades and get to go to a good uni.

But say you carry on doing the 1 year, no 3rd year, you may get the same results next year, and not get to as good a uni as poss?

If you get that?
I'm just trying to give all possible outcomes for you.

A couple of my friends re-did their AS level year and got much better results.

Drop the Biology.
Keep going with the other three; put the extra effort into gaining the max marks you can in A2 instead of having to revisit and revise for AS (all on your own, without the exam practice that you will have done with your teacher this year).

Iny my first year college, i messed up my Maths AS and decided to resit that.

While i took my other 3 subjects to A2. (so 4 subjects in total for 2nd year college)
During A2, I would resit my worst AS papers in January as you will only have 1 paper per subject.

So in January i had 3 x A2 exams and a few AS resits. I managed to up my AS and do well in my A2's and remember that AS are important as it counts as half your whole A level grade.

Just need hard work

Few people in my year didnt get the results they expected and they resat the year, but it was something the school was advising. Some left after 2 years (meaning they only got AS levels) but most stayed in sixthform for 3 years and got their a-levels
