Return Policy at Opticians - Advice Please

A question for opticians or anyone who has been in the same situation as I am now...

Does anyone know what glasses returns policies tend to be at opticians?

I have purchsed 2 pairs of new glasses, frames that I liked that were also advised by the optician. However with my lens prescription they are too heavy and even with thinner lenses are thicker than what I currently have due to the frames being slightly bigger.

There is no way I will be able to put up with them so I just wondered if anyone knows if it will be a battle to sort or not?

Cheers,

Steve

Banned from going back? I've not been back there yet!

Only got the glasses today, I was unsure whether to refuse them at the point of purchase, I did say that they were not quite as expected, but accepted them because as with all glasses you need to try them for a while to get used to them etc.

Glasses these days are quite heavy especially the more short sighted you get!. I get pressure points on my nose and my ears hurt so I stick with my contact lenses!

Yes, but my prescription hasn't changed so I was not expecting thicker heavier lenses in new specs, I only had to get new glasses as my previous pair are damaged.

Anyway, I just hope I can return them as it's really disappointing, and expensive too.

Hi, after months of getting great deals and help I thought I could finally give something back. I've worked in optics for 15 years so lets see what we can do for you. Firstly, is there any way you could let me know the company as I've worked for many and know how flexible most of them can be.
I'd also like to know roughly what your prescription is so I know how to help.

On insurance ? lose em

Hopefully you might get someone at opticians that is kind and will try and do something about this for you tell them the glasses are too heavy and they are falling off. Sorry mate no idea what to suggest. Hope you get something sorted or an optician spots your post and can advise

I had a problem with my new specs and had them changed twice before i was happy with the results, at no extra cost, try speaking to the opticians and asked them to suggest a way forward.

i work in the optical trade,,depends on the opticians where you got the glasses. The lenses may lookthicker due to the larger frame:) but they could take the measurements off your existing
lenses and get them made as near as possible to that.(not much you can do if they are minus lenses for shortsight) higher index is the way to go.

a certain store offers a 6 month no quibble...:thumbsup:they should change them within reason.
if your not happy but they also may have got them made up as best possible.

Go to Specsavers, ask for the Manager to dispense you as most of them are either THE OPTICIAN or a qualified DISPENSING OPTICIAN. You will get the best advice and they have an excellent returns policy if you don't like them. Free aftercare etc... and 2 for 1.
