I've had someone buy a bridesmaid dress from me and on flea bay and when i packaged it i didn't see any marks on it. She has now contacted me after receiving it today saying when you hold it up to the light there are two marks on it, she is now asking to return it saying its not as described. In my selling post i stated excellent condition and no returns accepted but obviously if there are marks on it its no good to her.
At the moment i have said i will only refund the cost of the item but should i actually be refunding the original postage she paid and the postage she incurs to return it?? She's being very polite but just want to make sure i pay her back what she is rightly owed.

Thanks all

wait and see when it comes back, if you did describe it wrongly I think you should refund in full and the return postage but if you tell her that now she may make sure it is not as described before returning it.

same, if no marks though i would not refund either postage just dress less fees less relisting charge.

Thanks guys,

It is annoying as i didn't see any marks but it will be word against hers. At the moment she hasn't asked for postage to be refunded but i'll be surprised if she doesn't as it will cost her more in postage than the item cost!! Think i'll wait and see if i can see the marks then if they are there offer the item and original postage and see if she'll settle for that given the fees and relisting etc., Oh i hate selling on there!!!

why not offer her enough off the cost to get item dry cleaned

I had it dry cleaned before i sent it. To be honest i think she has received it and just doesn't like it cos i really didn't see any marks and she has said you have to hold it up to the light in a certain way etc., I think i'll have to stand on my head with one arm out of the window and the dress at a 37 degree angle to see the marks but if they're there then nothing i can do about it!!

ide probably return the £10 and tell her to do whatever with the dress, at this rate it could end up costing you £12 in postage

if the postage is more than the dress then would you not be better just refunding her the dress and telling her to keep it rather than have to give her 2lots of postage back then your out of pocket, hope that makes sense lol
#12
i dont think i would refund her then if it had been dry cleaned before...
#13
I'd ask her to send pics of these marks,if they don't show up on camera tell her not to wear it whilst stood in front of a window lol

I would get her to email me pics too, then either ask for the dress back OR give her some money off.... she may be happy with that too as she got a very nice dress cheap.
