Hi All,

OK, I bought a shirt instore last Friday for £40. The item has been reduced to half price on Monday. I have bought it on-line for £20 and when i get it I was going to take it back with the recipt for the £40 one!

Will i get caught?

I think it;s a fair enought thing to do?

nope you should hang your head in shame go to the police and volunteer for community service as well as be named and shamed in your local paper

in all seriousness its fine nothing wrong with doing that if i was you i would take it back and then 30seconds later buy it again in the store just to prove a point

Well i bought a load of clothes 1 week and then found out the week after the shop was having a sale with 25% off everything so i took them all bk still with tags attached and just said i wanted to buy them again at the sale price hows that for cheek,i was within my rights as they were all unworn so wheres the problem

Done it a few weeks back at Burtons. 2 days after i got a load of stuff they had a 30% off sale. Why not !

So all you are doing is taking back the exact same garment (albeit an online substitute) with a valid receipt. Sometimes the trader marks the garment label to indicate that its been reduced.

You are not within your rights. Unless the goods are faulty the retailer has no obligation to give you a refund so I would not march in demanding rights you don't have, ask politely.

As long as it's returned in a saleable condition, they'll get their money back on it. Don't feel guilty...

what rights are these?

I bought some stuff from Fat Face that then went right down in price, and when I emailed them and told them I wasn't thrilled about it they told me to re-order at the lower price and send back to get a refund at the dearer price (free returns so it didn't cost me anything).
I would do it, no problem - but be careful somewhere like M & S as they sometimes mark sale goods on the receipt (I think only if it's a really big reduction).

Sorry, but you've no rights whatsoever in this situation, unless the goods are faulty the retailer has no obligation to refund your money, nor even issue a credit note.

Now if you purchase something online it's a different matter....

I always thought u had at least 14 days to return goods as long as they are unworn and still with their tags on-oops
