Returns and Tesco Vouchers

Here is something new to me and I wonder whether anyone has experienced this!

I bought two items from Tesco Direct recently and used the £5 off voucher to get a discount.

One of the items was a present for someone but it was not suitable so I returned it by taking it to one of theTesco stores.

Instead of getting the full refund on the item returned, I was told that half of the voucher value i.e. £2.50 would be taken off, meaning that I would be getting £2.50 less.

Despite arguing and asking on what ground is he able to do this, I was not getting anywhere so I left and went into another store and had no problem.

What???
That sure do't sound right to me......
Erm, I wonder if there is something in the small print about the use of vouchers and refunds?

Only (say) we had enough points or vouchers or what not to almost buy the item outright, then returned it as it was not suitab;e (i.e nothing wrong with it) then I can't see them returning you back the full cash amount....

Just a thought ....
I suppose in most cases if the voucher is a relatively small amount it is not worth Tesco losing the good will and potential custom therefore they may normally refund in total?

Don't know but it does sound odd that one store can do what another "jobs worth" can't perhaps....

I think OP is referring to the £5 off £20 spend at tesco direct. Lots of people order the £20 worth to get the discount knowing full well they going to return stuff back. So maybe the store has had this problem and clamped down.

I know sites like figleaves employ same policy as by signing up under mine and hubbys name i received £10 off £40 order on 2 seperate occasions. However on 1 occasion 1 bra didnt fit so i sent it back however i didnt get a full refund as the voucher had been used they refund me the bra less a proportion of the coupon

Just to add something else to this thread....

I bought something from Tesco Direct and purchased a sim card to make it free delivery

I returned the sim card but customer services told me they could only refund 3p - the difference between the sim card and the delivery charge I should have paid

i bought something for £20 and used the £5 voucher and sim trick, my item was damaged on delivery and i returned to the store and was refunded £20 and took sim back for refund and was even refunded the £5 voucher when I re ordered the same item! and given full refund on the second sim! you must have had a jobs worth tesco person serve you!
