I want to pass my bike test as I want to get into bikes soon.
I have already ridden bikes up to 125cc before and hold a full uk driving licence for more than 3 years. Can someone tell me :-

1) What things i will need to complete to be able to ride a bike of up to 400cc (cbt etc)
2) Where this can be done ie is there a site you can search on to find your local test centre ?
3) How much its all going to cost approx (I dont have my own bike)

thanks

I'm currently in the middle of mine mate :)

I booked a course, which includes.........

CBT (on a 125)
2 x 2 hour lessons (125)
4 x 2 hour lessons (500)
Theory Test
Practical Test
inc's all equipment, bike hire, insurance etc

All for £399 :)

Having never ridden a geared bike before, I opted for 6 lessons, you can knock it down to 4 for £299

I'm getting a Yamaha Fazer 600cc on Saturday - but cant drive it til I pass..................

This can be done is loads of places mate, check out yell.com for driving schools.

Get it done this year though, as from next year, you can expect to pay in the region of £1500 for the above as they are introducing new stuff that you can only do on a private track/runway, so the costs will spiral !!

Thanks a lot Chris.

To be honest I dont even need 4 lessons. 2 will do, I am quite good in riding the bike. know road signs as I drive a car just I need to learn the bikey things on the road (like how to take over etc)

Wow, whens that price going to start ? I will need to plan very soon by the looks of it

thanks again

Thanks for that, I'll have to get mine done this year.

Fazer 600, Nice bike.

Not sure exactly when - instructer just said it was coming in next year

It's due to the 60mph swerve around a stationary object & 60mph emergency stop........can't be done on public roads........

I doubt you'll be shown how to overtake properly on lessons for your test, I think this will have to be done as an advanced course after you have your license !!

Cheers - I was deciding on a Fazer, bandit or hornet.......but the Fazer won when I found a bargain :)

Only thing is, it's going to be sitting there for a few weeks til I pass lol

Bike tests these days sound a lot more fun!!

What happens if you have a bike with ABS? presumably you're not allowed to sit your test on an ABS bike?

Any rules these days on protective clothing for sitting your test? I'm presuming they wouldn't let you do a 60mph emergency stop in trainers, t-shirt and helmet.......

Recommend you join an advanced motorcyclists group - ride fast and ride safe ;-)
