I am in the process of packing to go to Riga in a few hours. Perhaps also down into Lithuania too.

I have been to Riga a couple of times before, but never really seen much other than the end of the old town my hotel was at (the south east) - and the airport and train stations. So never really had a chance to do the touristy bit.

So - what is worth seeing (kinda weird - but the TV mast looked really impressive and worth a visit).

What restaurants are nice (or not nice).

Also - where is worth a visit for a couple of days in Lithuania too?

Entirely open to suggestions (although not into the afternoon Kalashnikova sessions).

Rep for any good suggestions, or ones that make me laugh.

ADDED LATER

I guess I should have mentioned my bitch is on tow. :)))

Have also been to Riga twice & possibly done the same sort of thing as yourself - Old Town by night & city centre by day.

Lithuania is brilliant. My last visit was in March this year . I flew in Kaunas picked up a hire car & drove to Klaipeda for the night then onto Vilnius & finally back to Kaunas. One place i missed but will go to in the future is the Hill of Crosses

I did however get to see the Centre of Europe & Trakai Castle. The latter being an awesome place if you have time. Both are near to Vilnius so some distance from Riga :

Thanks - could you recommend any hotels there?

The selection online seemed pretty dire, but I guess if you hired a car you just stopped when you saw one rather than prebooking?

I liked Dundee, I was never a student there - but my happy hunting grounds were the student accommodation on Perth Road.

Mind you - there have been some pretty grisly stories of how they treat eastern europeans in eastern scotland?!???!?! :w00t:
