[First off, my apologies if this is in the wrong place, don't post much, and I realise that it is speculation rather than a deal available in the UK at the moment]
I've been looking for a decent, reasonably priced second tablet for our family ever since I got my heart broken in the HP Touchpad scrum, and it looks like there may be another deal on the horizon:
As reported in The Verge (and others) the Blackberry Playbook is being reduced to $199 for the 16GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB imminently in the US and Canada.
I will be watching to see if these price reductions are reflected over here as well.
The Playbook has not set the world on fire in terms of sales, and similar to the HP Touchpad, it is not running a dominant operating system at the moment. But it is similar in terms of hardware build to the Kindle Fire, has pretty good web browsing, is running an OS which, for the time being at least, does have a future, and it has an android app player.
Plus, I'm sure that once the price drop kicks sales into gear, the mod community will be all over it. The Kindle Fire has already been rooted, so I'm sure that technically, this should be possible too.
Anyway - just thought it might be worth a head's up to the bargain tablet hunters
