"The allegation is that the player acted in a way which was improper and/or bought the game into disrepute by making comments which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race."

It's just sad to see a player who has already had an eight-month ban for 'missing' a drugs test not learn to improve his behaviour. Really you have to ask why his manager can't try and teach him to be a better citizen.

He's been asking for it for more than one comment, so glad to see equality of fairness being demonstrated, regardless of who and what you are or claim to be.

I bet Rio is getting a right rolacking from Fergie behind the scenes.

I doubt it. Fergie has checked out. 10 years ago he might have but he's not the same guy who kicked a boot at Beckham and wasn't afraid to let players like Stam leave when they courted too much attention. Now he's just the mouthpiece for the Glazers and he's preparing for retirement.

Not sure why the word "missing" is in quote marks.

Rio will only receive punishment if Terry faces punishment for his racist comments(no alleged, or quote marks), otherwise the "Kick it out" campaign will get serious critism and will be set back years.

I 100% agree, he completely deserves it.
Next time he will choose his words more carefully.

I'm still interested in where the police's investigation goes. I wonder how it will affect his England career too.

I doubt he has an England career left regardless of any police investigation and/or this charge by the FA. He's gona struggle holding a first team place at Utd.

The problem is that I don't know if Rio has a defence like Terry did, regardless of whether or not you think Terry said something to insult Anton.

What is interesting is that Rio posted that 'Liar, Liar' tweet earlier in the week yet no-one at the club warned him. Even now he's still on Twitter. Are you seriously saying that the old Fergie who dragged Ryan Giggs home from parties (sorta) wouldn't have told Rio what was what?

Maybe he's spending too much time defending the Glazers.

Surely his biggest defence is the colour of his skin? Lets not over complicate things.
Maybe 'old' Fergie, isn't as oblivious as old bill.

Actually the insult he used could be argued to be more powerful when used by one black man (or mixed race) against another.

Why someone connected with the club didn't have a word with him about his tweeting before this I don't know. It's now affecting his availability to play for the people who pay him. If his account isn't deleted, I wonder what that says about Fergie's position.

Thread's back.

So if Suarez got 8 games, I think Ferdinand probably needs to get 4 which means they'll be without Smalling and Rio at the start of the season whilst Vidic is still coming back from a bad knee injury.

Surely Rio has to be told by the club to get off of Twitter.

So that works out at roughly £818.18 a letter, including the spaces. If Terry gets the same fine, it will be £600.

Just seeing who got the best value for money on their racial slurs. This is a deals site after all.

£45,000 for a racist comment?

Oh well, John Terry better get his chequebook out.

Why would there be tears? I'm a United fan and he deserved to be charged. He was being a bit of an idiot and should have just kept his mouth shut.

If I was Luis Suarez or even someone connected to Liverpool Football Club, I'd be asking some questions about the disparity between the punishments handed down by The FA in these cases.

I don't think he got match bans because he never wrote that Ashley Cole was a choc ice he just agreed with a tweet that some-else posted calling Ashley Cole a choc ice...

EDIT: My bad, he does use the words "choc ice".
