Sorry, I've not made myself very clear. Forums seem to have been full of rumours of people's deaths this week. Earlier it was Richard Branson, and then Vernon Kaye even publicly denied rumours of his own death. I wasn't sure if this was for real or not, but I'm saddened to learn that it is.

Paul Newman, the Academy-Award winning superstar who personified cool as the anti-hero of such films as "Hud," "Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money" — and as an activist, race car driver and popcorn impresario — has died. He was 83.
Newman died Friday after a long battle with cancer at his farmhouse near Westport, publicist Jeff Sanderson said. He was surrounded by his family and close friends.
In May, Newman had dropped plans to direct a fall production of "Of Mice and Men," citing unspecified health issues.
RIP TOP MAN

PAUL NEWMAN FILMOGRAPHY

Biography:All about Paul
One of the final products of the studio system, Paul Newman followed James Dean and Marlon Brando as a tortured, complex, Method-acting star of the '50s. Unlike those two, though, he was still getting Oscar-nominated at the age of 70. The list below reveals how he went from wannabe to icon, and from actor to legend.

He's not had a bad innings and led a "pretty comfortable" life, that most people would have settled for.
So I never feel to sorry for these types when they go !!
I feel more for the poor old guy that dies alone and has never had much of a life. When he goes it does not even get a mention at the street corner. Thats where my sympathy lies !!!

Totally inappropriate in a thread titled "rip Paul Newman" don't you think?

Paul Newman has been a very successful actor, businessman and sports car racer. He has also contributed publicly and privately to many charitable causes. So in all has certainly contributed to many millions of peoples enjoyment and, through his charity work, peoples well being. Far more than the "poor old guy that dies alone and has never had much of a life."

RIP Paul Newman, thanks for the memories.

No I don't think so. It's an honest opinion.
I have not and would not think or say anything against the memory of Paul Newman.
I thank him for the memories:thumbsup:

But I just think famous people get more "respect" and sympothy than the "ordinary" guy in the street, people seem to go over the top with emotions!!

If given the choice and re-incarnation was offered, not a lot of people would turn down the hand Paul was dealt (hollywood millionaire living in beverly hills till the age of 83). I am sure he would be first to agree;-)
