RMSD did i get charged too much?

Sent two phones, worth £20 and £50 and got charged £6.35 for each. I thought it would be around £3-5. Is this normal?

    Seems about right tbh.

    Yes, that's about right.
A letter via SD is £5.90 so I don't think it's too bad a price for a packet.

However, next time you would be better off sending Recorded mail, with signature on arrival and £46 compensation. It would be normal postage costs (so probably £2.20 for a small packet) plus 95p (or might be 90p) extra for the recorded service.

The only problem with recorded is that it is only a proof of posting and not trackable.

    Recorded is proof of delivery.

You obtain a certificate or a stamped receipt if you want proof of posting.

Having said that, Recorded will suffice as proof, but so would SD..

Recorded delivery cannot be tracked along it's route, only when it is signed for do you know where it is.
It does not go in a separate mailbag but is sorted with the rest of the mail.
So if it goes missing between you posting and it's destination you are stuffed. I've had letters that have the recorded sticker on posted through my door without me having to sign.

recorded delivery is still covered for upto £46 of lost items. So if it is claimed to never reachits destination and no signature is produced the RM payout. Whether an item is tracked at every point or not, if it is damaged or lost on route RM are liable.
All recorded does over a 1st class stamp is get a signature so someone can't deny getting it. If its delivered whilst not signed then RM can't prove otherwise. What postie would say oh yeah I delivered that but didn't get a signature.

    You're still getting confused.

Regardless of your lazy post man, it is still a POD service.

Always has been, always will be.

I'm not confused, i never said it wasn't proof of delivery if you look back at my original quote, i said it wasn't trackable. ie if it went missing between posting and delivery address.

Who cares if it's trackable! If it goes missing make a claim, same as with SD!!!

If you sent a 20 foot long neon sign by RMSD and they last tracked it in a depot half way to destination. They probably still wouldn't find it.

Always use RD if the item is worth less than £46 as your covered to that replacement value. SD does cover you for consequential loss or so I've been told before. I sent Tesco Clubcard vouchers which had no rl value but if they went missing the SD would cover the value loss towards th holiday I was booking.
