According to Sky Sports News Tottenham captain Robbie Keane is travelling up to Glasgow in order to complete a loan move to Celtic. The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with Aston Villa, Sunderland and West Ham.

The former Liverpool striker joined Tottenham in January last year but has found his first team opportunities limited due to the form of Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch. This morning he was heavily linked with a loan deal to West Ham, however the Hammers’ new owner David Sullivan suggested the player’s wage demands were too high. Sky Sports News claims Keane is on his way up to discuss personal terms with Celtic now, in order to beat the Scottish transfer deadline of 12am tonight. Aston Villa and Sunderland have been regularly linked with the former Inter Milan and Wolves star, but Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has always insisted the player is not for sale.

Although nothing is confirmed, Sky Sports News suggests Tottenham and Celtic have been negotiating a loan deal, but the player is yet to discuss personal terms over his contract. West Ham, Aston Villa and Sunderland are all out of the running because the Premier League’s transfer window for buying players has passed.

When Keane originally went to Liverpool, I'd preferred he stayed, but the price was too good to turn down. Since he's been back, he's been pants, so will be happy if you've signed him.

loads of people from Ireland have an english team and also support Celtic

As a Liverpool fan I'm sorry to see a great player decline so quickly since his move to Anfield

Says he only holding talks atm, so I assume he will go.

Wouldn't have minded him down the Villa, what was his dip in form down to, did he not fit into Harry's plans?

Long before this and the previous rumour, Keane has always stated he was a Celtic fan.

He might be pants these days, comparatively, but he will score goals.

Who you guys bringing in again (apart from the Administrators)?

He should score gaols in a league that is comparable to league 1 minus a few teams.

Are you F&F's long lost brother?

I don't get it, Robbie Keane has not lost form at all. It was harry that made him lose form. Not getting games, in and out. Did anyone see his performances for ireland against france? He's 29, pretty much at his peak, maybe SLIGHTLY past it, but then again he never had much pace anyway.

Any Celtic fan i know will be delighted. I don't see a downside to this move. World class player, has proved it at world cups too and on the international scene.

When you put it like that, he probably could have done a job for a Championship or League One club.

Maybe he can get a few games in the SPL and then he'll go to someone like Bristol City or Watford.

why do you comment such silly stuff? You obviously have no clue about football do you? He can score in world cups against the best defenders in the world, including france a few months ago, and you're telling me he's a watford type player? Talk sense boy.

to be fair gary caldwell scored against france so I wouldn't really boast about that.

wonder if there will be a widespread press backlash against 'arry for getting rid of robbie keane on loan if this is true....Rafa was slated when he decided he wasnt worth the money and sold him back to spurs.

He used to be....maybe they're covering up some injury or something.

Sad to see a once great player falling from grace - it's like De Niro in Raging Bull, bloated and telling bad jokes at cheap venues.

Sometimes it's best just to bow out and accept that it's over.

You made a ridiculous comment comparing the SPL to League 1 (minus a few teams) - otherwise known as trolling, like your hapless partner in crime F&F - just read the drivel he's posted on the this page.

Granted the SPL is not a strong league, but a great deal of that would be to do with finance. The SPL doesn't attract anywhere near the level of sponsorship/tv money that the EPL/Championship does - and hence there is nowhere near the capital available for the clubs to invest in better quality players, therefore the quality isn't as good.

When we've played against English clubs in Europe however, the Scottish clubs have faired rather well.

All that said, it won't be long before the overspending morons in charge of EPL clubs have to face the facts that they're going to die by their own sword financially speaking, when all the overpaid players etc cause them to implode. Take this transfer window for example; last season the clubs spent in excess of £190m in a recession - this year it is £31m.

Portsmouth is just the start - they will be lucky if they see the season out. Shame really, cause they have a great fanbase.

Indeed - maybe he'll replicate the success of Roy Keane:whistling:

Celtic - where Irish players called Keane go when they can't quite let go.

Are you referring to our World Cup win?

I know what you mean about some fans. I wish we could keep quiet about our world cup win like Scottish fans keep quiet about the time they won it.

You guys barely mention it.

everyone knew roy was at the end of his career, anyone who thought he was gonna do big things at 35 needed their head read. Although he did a good job, won the league. Bellamy, for the very short time he was there did very well. What was it 6 months?

who said camara was gonna blow the spl away? chick young? haha
