As I'm sure you are all aware, both Band games are on offer (or were as the case may be) at Game

For those, who like me, are unsure which band set is better, I've started this discussion in order to get a general idea of which kit people prefer, either then Band Hero kit or the Rock Band 2 kit (Beatles)

band hero kit is better quality.

If I wanted to play both Guitar hero and Rock band games, which band set would be better, as rock band has 5 pieces vs band hero which has 4?

Hi guys, i purchased the Rockband beatles SE for the Wii, i can say that that all icons are top quality.

Guitar seems to be the best of the lot though really nice to use.

Drums are also good but i can't compare to the Band hero ones. don't be conned by the big white thing you get to go with the drums saying "the Beatles" as it's just a peice of material :/

Mic would be the same.

The Rockband one also comes with a great mic stand which is surprisly useful if you mrs wants to sing whilst ironing :)

i also have the band hero game and can say that ithe rockband stuff works with the game. it doen't let you do the mii freestyle part though and the drums only use 4 rather that five lanes.

personally i would have chosen the Band hero stuff if they had them available for the wii in my store but they didn't. only reason being is that band hero is the latest guitar hero game so you'd think that it came with the latest kit.

another thing to note is that for the wii the rockband kit only requires wii motes for the mic as the guitar and the drums have them built it not sure if thats the same for band hero....

anyays thats my 2 pence. :)

The beatles set is apparently the new rock band 2 kit, just with beatles branding. So surely that should be an improvement over the standard rock band kit?

It's gotta be the Gutar Hero stuff all the way...I'm a GH-player, and have family who are Rock Band players...this is what I reckon:

Mics are much of a muchness - they're just USB mics. A stand is a bonus, but a bit of an unnecessary one!

GH guitars, IMO, are slightly easier to play - the buttons are set within the neck of the guitar. The RB guitars buttons take up the whole width of the neck, and they become slightly harder to press over time.

Drums - no contest - GH has the two pads set as cymbals, and the rubber coating on the pads makes for a much nicer hit. The pedal does not have to sit on a rail, as with some RB kits, which is mildly irritating if you have longish legs...

Most importantly - and I don't know if this plagues all RB games - the tracks break up in Rock Band for an 'improv' section where you just hit what you like. I personally hate that...and if you're looking for a realistic(ish) experience then I've give RB a skip just for that reason...

i think the above statement can be turned into a positive one. i have a friend who is pretty good at the drums and when playing rockband he really goes for it on the improv sections which actually makes it kinda fun. so depends what floats your boat. but as the OP was asking about the Kit i think that this really doesn't matter since you can you both sets of kits with both games.

which platform are you buying for OP?

XBOX 360

I've ordered the 2 Lips games and which I plan to sell the game because I just want wireless mics.

I bought the Beatles Rock Band and have to say im disappointed with the drums, both the look of them (white?) and the feel when they are hit. They are wireless tho, not sure if GH ones are.

Ok so I bought the Beatles RB on 360 (the mrs was not amused when she came home and saw it all set up) and I've
only had a little play, but comparing other equipment and features, do you know ;

1) when singing, can you play any of these games like a karaoke?, ie switch off the original artist - I tend to find
you can hardly hear yourself singing and it would be much more fun if you only heard yourself.

2) when drumming, can you hear the drum beats during the game when you hit the drum ? - from what ive played
you don’t on the Beatles game and the beats don’t conform with the in game music - i expected to hear a drum
beat in the same way you here it when you hit it in the menu section, but in the game you dont. Do other games ?

3) are the Rockband, Guitar Hero and Band Hero games all compatible with each others instruments -
i noticed there are three coloured main drums on BH and four on RB, so i take it they arent ?

you can probs tell ive never played a game like this before - it was an impulse purchase when I saw the reduction,
4) I'm now wondering should I have gone for Band Hero, is the gameplay better or identical ?

3) http://www.rockband.com/compatibility - I think the right cymbal (of band hero) won't work when playing a rock band game

I think in terms of game play they're are very similar.

If you look on youtube you can see side by side view of one song viewed on both games. Only difference would be compatibility as the band hero is a 5 drum set vs the 4 piece set of rock band

Edit

Found an article comparing the 2 on each others drums

Hmm, may have to get some 'add on' cymbals, wonder how much they are.

I don't think they add to the game much, only freestyle

Decisions Decisions

There seem to be a number of comparisons between Guitar hero and Rock Band 2, but not with the new Band Hero drums.

Well I made my decision and I went for..........

BAND HERO

It was a difficult choice, but I thought it would be the better kit (as it is the latest one)

(p.s It looks like I might be talking to myself lol)
