But did anyone else notice how fat the storm troopers looked ? I put this down to unhealthy 21st century diets compared to 20th century ones !!

It was alright, but i had higher expectations because everyone was saying its the best star wars to date. Which i didn't think it was. Still good though, and yeah the last 15 mins prob the best.

cracking film, the cgi carrie fisher was done very well.

I'm surprised how obvious they make it to tell when they've recreate a person using CGI. Probably because it's possible to do it where it's indistinguishable from real. And they don't want people to know that is possible. So they make it obvious that it's CGI

I thought it got better and better as it went on. Most films for me have peaks and troughs but this started well and slowly ratcheted up right through to the finish. Fantastic. Seen it 3 times and will probably go again.

Are you talking about the stormtrooper in the back of the Labour camp transporter because I thought the same! It's probably James Corden :D

The eyes on peter cushing gave it away but it was a good effort with the cgi for that character

But the sometimes clumsy special effects were some of the best bits about the original trilogy whereas the perfect cartoony second trilogy were dreadful.

I thought the two Star destroyers looked pants untill the very end.

Also noticed Vader had red eye lenses in for some reason !

I probably only watched 2 of the Star Wars as a child. So memory is very weak. Never was a fan of Star Wars so had no idea what it's about. But watched rogue last week and can say I enjoyed it alot. May watch the ther Star Wars movies.

If you've already seen Episode IV & V, then just skip to VII.

Mind you, there are some clues to Rey's & Finn's respective (grand)parents in the first Trilogy (Episodes I to III, inclusive).

I seen it yesterday at the pictures and thought it was ok, the cgi peter cushing was a good effort but still didnt look right, ive just checked out the cgi princess leia again on 123 movies and she looks unconvincing. The music was a big let down and the theme only kicked in on the end credits but still this has to be seen on the big screen like all the others.

I enjoyed it alot.. grew up on Star Wars, this had more of that early 80's feel of Star Wars than Episode VII did, Im looking forward to see how the Solo film will play out..

also Rogue Two.... Bothans?

One part I got a bit confused about was the fight between all the storm troopers and the blind guy.
At one point he kicks up some sand into the storm troopers face who when covers his mask as if it's gone into his eyes.

What was that about?

I think the reason the star wars music was at the end was to signify the start of the original Star wars story if that makes sense ?

I though this one was a lot better than the last one which was just a reboot of the first one, agree somewhat with you about Vader there was something amiss with his mask and it didn't look right.

Watched it yesterday and thought it was an average film that if it not a Star Wars film would have been panned by the critics.

Liked the CGI characters, liked the drab grittiness to the cinematography but Vader not as terrifying as he was in previous films, liked the ending as it is rare that everyone dies in films these dies, would have liked a little cameo for Han Solo, Chewbacca and the Millenium Falcon.

If this is the best they can do then we will all be sick of Star Wars in 5 years time and then it will have to wait for a re-boot in 20 years time but Disney would have made a profit soon on their £4billion investment so they will be happy.

The film makers would do well to turn to some of the excellent Star Wars books for story lines starting with Heir To The Empire book 1 of the Thrawn Trilogy.

I finally watched it yesterday (with 5 other people in the whole cinema), and thought is was okay as a Sci-Fi film, but not the league to be a true Star Wars movie, even a spin off. The script was pretty mediocre with little plot or substance to the story. Even the characters were fairly disposable, except the blind guy, who I found the most fascinating.

As for the CGI, yes it was impressive, especially Peter Cushing, although Princess Leia looked a bit too odd and creepy for my liking.

Oh and yes I also thought Darth Vader's mask looked different.

Me too and there were only 5 other people in the cinema last night so this film has run its course.

I will not be buying it nor watching it when it comes to TV. Average film at best and the franchise will be dead if they do not significantly improve. So far only 3 good films out of 8 made.

In your opinion, I liked 6 outta 8 of the films (didn't enjoy episodes I & II) Rouge one is my joint favourite alongside Empire Strikes Back.

The mystical, oriental blind guy that knew martial arts.... Couldn't have found a more clichéd character if they'd tried.
