Ronnie O'sullivan has to be persuaded by ref to complete 147 break

Linky below-actually wanted to shake hands and finish after the pink-couldnt be bothered to pot the black for the crowd because there wasnt any bonus money on it.

But the ref eventually persuaded him-is this funny? bad sportsmanship? or is he right?

personally have always known he doesnt actually have any respect for the game that has made him rich, but this is a tad out of order surely?

he does have psychological problems.

just seen this on the news, yeh he should have put it away for the fans if nothing else.

He had the game stopped to see what the prize was when he was on 8!! Sport needs personalities.
#5
come on it was only £4k for doing so, hardly was worth it....:p
[mod]#6
Probably had good money on the fact he wouldn't.

4k really is a pitiful amount. I'd like 4k, but considering the skill involved, I'd prob be a bit **** off about it.
#8
Very arrogant, but not necessarily a bad thing. Snooker needs him a lot more than he needs snooker.

They should give him more than 4k purely because of the much needed attention being brought to snooker.

I love snooker :)

Guy is the only reason to watch snooker really for the neutrals.

What he did and what he said about barry hearn afterwards was pure class.

ronnie is there for the dough and why not....

He clearly did this for the media coverage. All the bad press the sport has had recently. Why would he ask on the final ball? He would have stopped 4 or five balls earlier if he really didn't care. Anyone who thinks otherwise is very foolish.

Maybe! But that is clearly the reason why he did it!

I think ronnie is making a point about the prize money for a 147 break being 4k and not the 147k that it use to be, what he did today was directed at barry hearns, and had nothing to do with bad press

Wasn't the 147k prize only for the world championship or was it for any break in any ranking tournament?
#17
147k is for the world champs only not some **** event up north that's first to 3 frames
#18
as expected :)

He didn't ask on the final ball, he asked after the first red. One of the most amazing things I have seen in snooker (not surprisingly, 95% of the other ones are also from Ronnie). Guy is a legend, never seen anything like it, but to have such confidence of making a maximum 1 shot into a break is just nuts.
#20
It might be a **** event but I thought it was still a ranking tournament.

when you own the game i suppose you can do what the **** you want.

good on him i say. 4k after taxes probably wouldn't even pay for his first round of drinks at the after party.
#22
He's a moody ****, but it adds a little something to the game when he does these kind of things.
#23
The guy is total plank IMO, he could have enhanced his own and snookers rep a little by donating the prize to a charity if it meant that lilttle to him. This just adds another to the list of strange sports goings on in the headlines for me.

Still it got more advertising for the event than BH could have ever dreamed of paying for so all is not lost.

That would have made no statement on his feelings.

great! if you had wagered some money on the 147, I bet you would be a little pee'd orf

Good man. Shows how good he is and how little he cares about a 'prestigious' 147 break.

He is bigger than snooker.
