Industrial action: an update from Royal Mail
Update - August 9th

We are pleased to confirm that the current industrial action has been suspended. At a meeting today, between Royal Mail and the Communications Workers Union it was agreed:

* that both parties commit to talks on all the issues between them, hosted and facilitated by the TUC and supported by ACAS. Both sides commit to reach an agreement by 4 September.
* that during this period the talks are on a confidential basis with no media or internal briefings unless explicitly jointly agreed. The CWU Executive and Royal Mail Board will receive regular updates on progress and will also be expected to undertake this confidentiality clause.
* that for that period, Royal Mail will not serve notice or take any unilateral action to impose changes by executive action.
* that for the same period, the CWU will suspend industrial action.

We aim to get back to normal as quickly as possible and would like to apologise to all of our customers for any disruption the recent strike action has caused.

They have only been suspended, not cancelled. So expect another wave of strikes to hit next month unless it can be sorted out.

I'm sure they'll miss you. ;-)

They don't care about the personal customers so much as there is no profit. The profit is in the business sector and the staff have striked to try to prevent cut backs in staff although the recent strike action has lost so many business customers that Royal Mail will have no choice eventually to cull staff to try to grab back any profits they can.

Goverment will be keeping them afloat within the next 2 years again no doubt.

I had nightmare problems with that company, never, ever again.

Oh and they don't do letter post, so I guess you will be using the Royal Mail again.;-)

Syzable

The Government have caused the problems by allowing private companies to " cherry pick " business customers from the Royal Mail, Royal Mail still has to deliver the private business customers stuff to the door for a fraction of the true cost.

this really is a joke, i had two packages (bought on this forum) sent out last week and neither of them have arrived yet. .have they been doin much less work at a slower rate or have they just been doing nothing?
#10
Could possibly be the back log!
#11
It seems to work in reverse, things sent 3 weeks ago arent arriving, things sent 2 weeks ago just arrived, things sent last week took a week.

What I reckon is they are piling up bags and sending them from top of pile.

Me too, about two weeks ago something I purchased was dispatched, I still have not received it. Something I purchased on Tuesday is here now! Strange but I wish they would stop striking, all the people I have sold things to on Amazon and Ebay are asking where their items are. Im sick of explaing that the Royal Mail keeps striking and despite my greatest efforts I cannot hand deliver all items!
